00:00:00,000 –> 00:00:08,519
21 is over this year is flying back hey

2
00:00:06,420 –> 00:00:10,440
everybody happy friday good morning

3
00:00:08,519 –> 00:00:12,540
welcome to the bootstrap boutique where

4
00:00:10,440 –> 00:00:15,599
beginners build businesses this is

5
00:00:12,540 –> 00:00:18,420
Friday so it is a goal recap edition and

6
00:00:15,599 –> 00:00:19,980
it’s a special edition because it’s the

7
00:00:18,420 –> 00:00:21,720
end of the first quarter so we’re going

8
00:00:19,980 –> 00:00:24,180
to recap everything we’ve accomplished

9
00:00:21,720 –> 00:00:26,010
in the first quarter and set the stage

10
00:00:24,180 –> 00:00:29,609
for what we’re going to do going into

11
00:00:26,010 –> 00:00:32,880
the second quarter of 2017 got my suit

12
00:00:29,609 –> 00:00:35,370
sweet shirt on here ready to go there’s

13
00:00:32,880 –> 00:00:36,930
a lot to do today so let’s jump into it

14
00:00:35,370 –> 00:00:39,239
so like I said I’m going to start by

15
00:00:36,930 –> 00:00:40,950
recapping the goals that I had set for

16
00:00:39,239 –> 00:00:43,680
the first quarter and the first goal was

17
00:00:40,950 –> 00:00:45,960
to sell out of all 250 units of my

18
00:00:43,680 –> 00:00:48,450
product which as you can see did not

19
00:00:45,960 –> 00:00:51,120
happen we actually ended up as of last

20
00:00:48,450 –> 00:00:53,160
night selling a 97 actually I think I

21
00:00:51,120 –> 00:00:54,930
hit a couple more come through after I

22
00:00:53,160 –> 00:00:58,379
put this slide together but we’re just

23
00:00:54,930 –> 00:01:00,989
going to call it 97 so you know if I had

24
00:00:58,379 –> 00:01:02,789
the full quarter that I was selling

25
00:01:00,989 –> 00:01:04,530
these products if I had started actually

26
00:01:02,789 –> 00:01:05,760
on Jan Murray first we might have hid

27
00:01:04,530 –> 00:01:07,590
that goal we might have come out a

28
00:01:05,760 –> 00:01:11,369
little better but got a late start so

29
00:01:07,590 –> 00:01:12,869
you know I did really want to have sold

30
00:01:11,369 –> 00:01:15,240
through these products just as a way of

31
00:01:12,869 –> 00:01:17,460
verifying that this was something that

32
00:01:15,240 –> 00:01:18,810
was going to be a good seller but we

33
00:01:17,460 –> 00:01:20,880
didn’t get there but I’ve got so many

34
00:01:18,810 –> 00:01:25,229
plans of things to do to make it better

35
00:01:20,880 –> 00:01:28,560
so that is where we are on goal one did

36
00:01:25,229 –> 00:01:31,439
not meet it there’s an expert for this

37
00:01:28,560 –> 00:01:33,600
goal the second goal I had was to launch

38
00:01:31,439 –> 00:01:36,600
a second product and as you know I also

39
00:01:33,600 –> 00:01:38,700
did not do that and that partially

40
00:01:36,600 –> 00:01:40,829
because I did not sell out of the first

41
00:01:38,700 –> 00:01:43,979
product and then did not have the

42
00:01:40,829 –> 00:01:46,140
capital handy to launch a second product

43
00:01:43,979 –> 00:01:48,810
so what’s still working through the

44
00:01:46,140 –> 00:01:52,200
decision process on what went right with

45
00:01:48,810 –> 00:01:54,540
number 113 wrong with number one what to

46
00:01:52,200 –> 00:01:56,430
do to you know do better the next time

47
00:01:54,540 –> 00:01:57,840
how to improve product once all that

48
00:01:56,430 –> 00:01:59,820
good stuff i posted about it on

49
00:01:57,840 –> 00:02:01,829
wednesday you can check i’ll put a card

50
00:01:59,820 –> 00:02:05,939
up you can see that video if you haven’t

51
00:02:01,829 –> 00:02:10,020
already but yeah so this one was as also

52
00:02:05,939 –> 00:02:11,970
an X and I’m okay with it because of all

53
00:02:10,020 –> 00:02:13,680
the variables that were involved but

54
00:02:11,970 –> 00:02:15,750
anyway we

55
00:02:13,680 –> 00:02:16,950
did not meet either of those first two

56
00:02:15,750 –> 00:02:19,500
goals anything I wanted Twitter

57
00:02:16,950 –> 00:02:20,519
followers so one thing I’ve realized

58
00:02:19,500 –> 00:02:21,930
this morning as I’m putting this

59
00:02:20,519 –> 00:02:23,819
together is I don’t have any of those

60
00:02:21,930 –> 00:02:25,109
numbers that i achieved actually written

61
00:02:23,819 –> 00:02:28,019
down i’ll put them in the description

62
00:02:25,109 –> 00:02:31,530
below just so we’ve got it there for

63
00:02:28,019 –> 00:02:34,889
Prosperity i should say but i ended up

64
00:02:31,530 –> 00:02:36,810
with just under 5600 twitter followers

65
00:02:34,889 –> 00:02:39,719
and my goal was five thousand for the

66
00:02:36,810 –> 00:02:42,870
quarter so i did manage to get above

67
00:02:39,719 –> 00:02:44,639
that number which was awesome and yeah i

68
00:02:42,870 –> 00:02:46,290
just i really like i said a hundred

69
00:02:44,639 –> 00:02:47,760
times i enjoy twitter i enjoy the

70
00:02:46,290 –> 00:02:49,650
platform and interacting with people

71
00:02:47,760 –> 00:02:51,120
there and i like that you know somebody

72
00:02:49,650 –> 00:02:52,709
says something fun or interesting you

73
00:02:51,120 –> 00:02:54,810
can just tag him and say hey that’s cool

74
00:02:52,709 –> 00:02:57,419
or you can retweet it or whatever

75
00:02:54,810 –> 00:03:00,239
everybody is just very accessible on the

76
00:02:57,419 –> 00:03:02,069
twitter platform which i enjoy so you

77
00:03:00,239 –> 00:03:03,599
know certainly plan to continue to spend

78
00:03:02,069 –> 00:03:05,790
a lot of time there going forward in the

79
00:03:03,599 –> 00:03:08,760
same vein I had a goal of over a

80
00:03:05,790 –> 00:03:10,889
thousand total tweets for the ad mag

81
00:03:08,760 –> 00:03:14,280
wash and handle and i ended up again

82
00:03:10,889 –> 00:03:17,549
just under 1,500 so i think i must have

83
00:03:14,280 –> 00:03:18,810
thought that I wouldn’t tweet as much as

84
00:03:17,549 –> 00:03:23,159
I do because you can see i started with

85
00:03:18,810 –> 00:03:25,680
750 and you know i really only need a

86
00:03:23,159 –> 00:03:28,620
250 tweets which again over the course

87
00:03:25,680 –> 00:03:30,930
of three months is still much more than

88
00:03:28,620 –> 00:03:33,120
one a day but you know there’s a couple

89
00:03:30,930 –> 00:03:34,530
of reasons why i pretty much doubled

90
00:03:33,120 –> 00:03:36,239
where i was at the beginning a quarter

91
00:03:34,530 –> 00:03:37,769
of one is because when you post videos

92
00:03:36,239 –> 00:03:40,290
on twitter when you post things that you

93
00:03:37,769 –> 00:03:42,120
want people to see you need to post it

94
00:03:40,290 –> 00:03:44,340
several times especially in that first

95
00:03:42,120 –> 00:03:46,620
couple of days just because otherwise

96
00:03:44,340 –> 00:03:48,449
you know people’s twitter feeds are so

97
00:03:46,620 –> 00:03:50,519
full that’s really the only way you can

98
00:03:48,449 –> 00:03:54,659
show up there’s not a great algorithm in

99
00:03:50,519 –> 00:03:56,310
Twitter to help you get seen you know

100
00:03:54,659 –> 00:03:58,949
based on engagement like a facebook or

101
00:03:56,310 –> 00:04:01,829
instagram has so that’s that’s why i

102
00:03:58,949 –> 00:04:03,359
have 70 posts there but also because

103
00:04:01,829 –> 00:04:06,299
i’ve been in there a lot tweeting people

104
00:04:03,359 –> 00:04:09,780
and rishi sharing or sharing with people

105
00:04:06,299 –> 00:04:11,250
and retweeting i should say and you know

106
00:04:09,780 –> 00:04:13,259
and just enjoying being there on

107
00:04:11,250 –> 00:04:15,239
platform again with the youtube

108
00:04:13,259 –> 00:04:17,070
subscribers you guys I am so grateful

109
00:04:15,239 –> 00:04:20,849
for all of you that are here watching

110
00:04:17,070 –> 00:04:25,110
this video we ended up about 306 sorry

111
00:04:20,849 –> 00:04:26,880
not 300 416 youtube subscribers here on

112
00:04:25,110 –> 00:04:27,389
the bootstrap beauty channel which does

113
00:04:26,880 –> 00:04:29,729
can

114
00:04:27,389 –> 00:04:32,400
mm I my people continue to find me and

115
00:04:29,729 –> 00:04:34,110
follow me and I am super grateful for

116
00:04:32,400 –> 00:04:36,240
you guys and for the feedback that you

117
00:04:34,110 –> 00:04:37,740
offer the support that you get to me

118
00:04:36,240 –> 00:04:39,449
into each other in the comments I just

119
00:04:37,740 –> 00:04:41,219
really appreciate all of it i love this

120
00:04:39,449 –> 00:04:43,229
little group that comes and watches the

121
00:04:41,219 –> 00:04:45,449
bootstrap boutique every week I did not

122
00:04:43,229 –> 00:04:48,270
mean to run that by the way and then

123
00:04:45,449 –> 00:04:51,330
finally for the social media stuff on

124
00:04:48,270 –> 00:04:53,340
YouTube videos I had a goal of 20 for

125
00:04:51,330 –> 00:04:55,620
the quarter and actually because I put

126
00:04:53,340 –> 00:04:58,620
up a few more than I was expecting ended

127
00:04:55,620 –> 00:05:02,009
up at about 37 so that’s kind of crazy

128
00:04:58,620 –> 00:05:03,840
that’s a lot of videos to produce in

129
00:05:02,009 –> 00:05:06,330
three months when you’re a one-person

130
00:05:03,840 –> 00:05:07,710
show and doing all the other stuff that

131
00:05:06,330 –> 00:05:09,360
I’m doing so we’re going to talk about

132
00:05:07,710 –> 00:05:11,490
how that’s going to change your coming

133
00:05:09,360 –> 00:05:13,469
up but I’ve enjoyed putting all those

134
00:05:11,490 –> 00:05:15,719
together another goal i have was to

135
00:05:13,469 –> 00:05:17,129
review three books here at the bootstrap

136
00:05:15,719 –> 00:05:19,770
boutique ever eat a lot of business

137
00:05:17,129 –> 00:05:22,710
books can I say this and not sound super

138
00:05:19,770 –> 00:05:25,349
nerdy for fun no I can’t I still sound

139
00:05:22,710 –> 00:05:27,120
like you’re huge to work but I do and I

140
00:05:25,349 –> 00:05:29,069
really enjoy just reading and learning

141
00:05:27,120 –> 00:05:31,379
new stuff and so I do tend to read a lot

142
00:05:29,069 –> 00:05:33,060
of nonfiction a lot of fiction too but

143
00:05:31,379 –> 00:05:34,979
that’s not what we’re here to talk about

144
00:05:33,060 –> 00:05:36,900
today so anyway I started in January

145
00:05:34,979 –> 00:05:39,930
would eat that frog by brian tracy in

146
00:05:36,900 –> 00:05:41,879
febuary i did five once in its classic

147
00:05:39,930 –> 00:05:45,210
book reviews and then finished up in

148
00:05:41,879 –> 00:05:46,830
March with vlog like a boss with a

149
00:05:45,210 –> 00:05:48,930
mission it’s our which was a lot of fun

150
00:05:46,830 –> 00:05:50,610
to review and she actually watched the

151
00:05:48,930 –> 00:05:52,949
video and thought it was cool which I

152
00:05:50,610 –> 00:05:55,379
thought was cool and you know work it’s

153
00:05:52,949 –> 00:05:57,060
cool it’s all cool so that was a lot of

154
00:05:55,379 –> 00:05:59,520
fun I enjoyed putting those together and

155
00:05:57,060 –> 00:06:01,529
reading those books with you guys and

156
00:05:59,520 –> 00:06:06,330
then finally appearances and

157
00:06:01,529 –> 00:06:08,129
collaborations I that exceeds what I

158
00:06:06,330 –> 00:06:10,379
thought would happen here on the channel

159
00:06:08,129 –> 00:06:12,990
I did to podcast interviews one with

160
00:06:10,379 –> 00:06:14,580
john lim over at be moving forward and

161
00:06:12,990 –> 00:06:17,550
one with Scott Vogler of the amazing

162
00:06:14,580 –> 00:06:19,319
sellers those were really cool and you

163
00:06:17,550 –> 00:06:21,149
know the be moving forward one came out

164
00:06:19,319 –> 00:06:22,889
in early March so you can go listen to

165
00:06:21,149 –> 00:06:24,810
that whenever you would like to if you

166
00:06:22,889 –> 00:06:27,060
haven’t already the amazing seller

167
00:06:24,810 –> 00:06:28,979
podcast will be out Scott’s it early

168
00:06:27,060 –> 00:06:30,750
April so sometime in the next two weeks

169
00:06:28,979 –> 00:06:32,490
I would expect to hear it drop in the

170
00:06:30,750 –> 00:06:34,830
podcast key so you’re not already

171
00:06:32,490 –> 00:06:36,599
subscribed to Scott he puts out so many

172
00:06:34,830 –> 00:06:38,550
good resources stop selling on Amazon

173
00:06:36,599 –> 00:06:40,500
that I would definitely recommend you

174
00:06:38,550 –> 00:06:40,840
check him out and then finally I did a

175
00:06:40,500 –> 00:06:43,000
cool

176
00:06:40,840 –> 00:06:46,300
operation video with the Scelzi guys

177
00:06:43,000 –> 00:06:48,910
Josh over its LG where I went and used

178
00:06:46,300 –> 00:06:50,740
his app on my cell phone to do some

179
00:06:48,910 –> 00:06:53,500
scanning at our local thrift store and

180
00:06:50,740 –> 00:06:55,270
found a sea of 75 dollars worth of

181
00:06:53,500 –> 00:06:58,449
profits and if you said I would have

182
00:06:55,270 –> 00:07:02,110
said well $75 was a prophet and it would

183
00:06:58,449 –> 00:07:03,790
have cost me like maybe less than five

184
00:07:02,110 –> 00:07:07,090
dollars to buy all the books that would

185
00:07:03,790 –> 00:07:10,180
have gotten me to $75 profit so pretty

186
00:07:07,090 –> 00:07:12,370
stinkin cool if you ask me so that is a

187
00:07:10,180 –> 00:07:13,900
wrap on the first quarter and out of

188
00:07:12,370 –> 00:07:16,360
what is that eight goals that I had I

189
00:07:13,900 –> 00:07:18,100
hit space of them so i’m free happy with

190
00:07:16,360 –> 00:07:20,290
that progress I’ve said some pretty big

191
00:07:18,100 –> 00:07:22,960
goals for myself and got most of them

192
00:07:20,290 –> 00:07:25,120
done however you’ll notice that you i

193
00:07:22,960 –> 00:07:27,160
did not get done relate to selling on

194
00:07:25,120 –> 00:07:28,600
Amazon so I just I’ve got to put more

195
00:07:27,160 –> 00:07:30,790
focus there I’ve got to put more time

196
00:07:28,600 –> 00:07:33,400
and effort there and I think you’ll see

197
00:07:30,790 –> 00:07:35,350
coming up in my second quarter goals but

198
00:07:33,400 –> 00:07:37,479
that is what’s going to happen so let’s

199
00:07:35,350 –> 00:07:39,550
move into the second quarter goals that

200
00:07:37,479 –> 00:07:41,380
I have and let’s see what I’m going to

201
00:07:39,550 –> 00:07:43,840
be spending my time on in the next three

202
00:07:41,380 –> 00:07:46,300
months my first goal is to launch a

203
00:07:43,840 –> 00:07:48,940
second YouTube channel but specifically

204
00:07:46,300 –> 00:07:51,639
for my private label brands so what I

205
00:07:48,940 –> 00:07:53,650
want to do is show tips and tricks and

206
00:07:51,639 –> 00:07:56,500
tutorials and ways to use that product

207
00:07:53,650 –> 00:07:58,450
put them on Amazon with a link to my

208
00:07:56,500 –> 00:08:00,430
products are sorry put them on YouTube

209
00:07:58,450 –> 00:08:02,919
with a link to my product at amazon and

210
00:08:00,430 –> 00:08:04,120
use that to drive some traffic so I’m

211
00:08:02,919 –> 00:08:06,940
going to take everything I have learned

212
00:08:04,120 –> 00:08:09,280
from building the bootstrap boutique and

213
00:08:06,940 –> 00:08:10,510
targeting you know specific keywords

214
00:08:09,280 –> 00:08:11,979
which I really don’t do it the biggest

215
00:08:10,510 –> 00:08:13,389
truck to take I pretty much just talk

216
00:08:11,979 –> 00:08:15,550
about what’s on my mind too when I’m

217
00:08:13,389 –> 00:08:17,710
learning but i have learned about how to

218
00:08:15,550 –> 00:08:20,800
ino target keyword and show up and

219
00:08:17,710 –> 00:08:22,180
search and do video SEO and all that fun

220
00:08:20,800 –> 00:08:24,669
stuff i’m going to put all that good

221
00:08:22,180 –> 00:08:26,889
stuff to use to build up this second

222
00:08:24,669 –> 00:08:28,450
YouTube channel this is one guys you’re

223
00:08:26,889 –> 00:08:30,130
just going to have to trust me when I

224
00:08:28,450 –> 00:08:32,050
tell you I did it or I didn’t do it

225
00:08:30,130 –> 00:08:33,940
because as you know we really in the

226
00:08:32,050 –> 00:08:36,070
private label world don’t share our

227
00:08:33,940 –> 00:08:38,020
products just because everybody’s super

228
00:08:36,070 –> 00:08:39,520
protective of what they’re selling for a

229
00:08:38,020 –> 00:08:41,650
good reason that’s way too easy to get

230
00:08:39,520 –> 00:08:42,909
knocked off guys somebody that just

231
00:08:41,650 –> 00:08:46,870
comes in and copies all your hard work

232
00:08:42,909 –> 00:08:48,610
so I will be very honest scouts honor I

233
00:08:46,870 –> 00:08:51,400
will update you truthfully on whether

234
00:08:48,610 –> 00:08:52,570
I’ve done it or not but you know that’s

235
00:08:51,400 –> 00:08:54,340
why you’re not going to see a big link

236
00:08:52,570 –> 00:08:56,800
to my second YouTube channel

237
00:08:54,340 –> 00:08:58,330
here at the bootstrap boutique also I

238
00:08:56,800 –> 00:09:00,610
want to go ahead and get two months

239
00:08:58,330 –> 00:09:02,950
force video shot edited and uploaded to

240
00:09:00,610 –> 00:09:05,530
YouTube so they can roll out on once a

241
00:09:02,950 –> 00:09:07,510
week basis the second goal I have is to

242
00:09:05,530 –> 00:09:09,490
get my private label brand brand

243
00:09:07,510 –> 00:09:11,770
registered at amazon there’s a few

244
00:09:09,490 –> 00:09:13,030
benefits to doing that one is that it’s

245
00:09:11,770 –> 00:09:15,790
going to give me a lot more control over

246
00:09:13,030 –> 00:09:18,040
my listing for instance when I had those

247
00:09:15,790 –> 00:09:19,630
hijackers come on where they couple

248
00:09:18,040 –> 00:09:20,920
weeks ago when they were doing the thing

249
00:09:19,630 –> 00:09:22,690
where they were listing my product for

250
00:09:20,920 –> 00:09:25,120
half price and then as far as I’m aware

251
00:09:22,690 –> 00:09:28,390
of not actually ever shipping any

252
00:09:25,120 –> 00:09:29,650
product because didn’t have any and I

253
00:09:28,390 –> 00:09:31,390
know that because they said they had

254
00:09:29,650 –> 00:09:33,520
like a hundred units in stock and I

255
00:09:31,390 –> 00:09:36,580
didn’t sell 100 units and certainly not

256
00:09:33,520 –> 00:09:38,440
all to one place so this should provide

257
00:09:36,580 –> 00:09:39,760
some protection against that another

258
00:09:38,440 –> 00:09:42,190
thing it can help out with us getting

259
00:09:39,760 –> 00:09:44,230
enhanced branding content I think it’s

260
00:09:42,190 –> 00:09:46,000
what it’s called on your listing where

261
00:09:44,230 –> 00:09:46,930
you’re able to go in and just make sure

262
00:09:46,000 –> 00:09:49,270
your listing look a lot more

263
00:09:46,930 –> 00:09:50,800
professional in my private label product

264
00:09:49,270 –> 00:09:52,000
that currently have on amazon I really

265
00:09:50,800 –> 00:09:54,040
need that to compete with the bigger

266
00:09:52,000 –> 00:09:57,220
sellers because they all have it so

267
00:09:54,040 –> 00:09:59,590
there’s a few reasons for getting brand

268
00:09:57,220 –> 00:10:01,510
registered I also think it may help you

269
00:09:59,590 –> 00:10:04,330
just look more legit in the item amazon

270
00:10:01,510 –> 00:10:05,920
just a serial it’s true or not but I’m

271
00:10:04,330 –> 00:10:07,900
hoping that there will be nothing but

272
00:10:05,920 –> 00:10:09,910
benefits from doing that and of course

273
00:10:07,900 –> 00:10:11,500
as you know I will walk you through what

274
00:10:09,910 –> 00:10:13,660
I’m working on with that every step of

275
00:10:11,500 –> 00:10:16,660
the way the servo I have is to work on

276
00:10:13,660 –> 00:10:20,350
the bootstrap boutique blog now this is

277
00:10:16,660 –> 00:10:22,930
not really a good goal as far as it’s

278
00:10:20,350 –> 00:10:24,520
not worded very well it’s not a smart

279
00:10:22,930 –> 00:10:26,830
goal for sure because it’s not

280
00:10:24,520 –> 00:10:29,530
measurable or anything like that I get

281
00:10:26,830 –> 00:10:31,210
that I know that it’s not really a good

282
00:10:29,530 –> 00:10:33,880
goal but if you’ve been over to the blog

283
00:10:31,210 –> 00:10:35,830
you know it’s it’s nothing more I now

284
00:10:33,880 –> 00:10:37,870
than a holding spot for videos I don’t

285
00:10:35,830 –> 00:10:40,390
really do anything else with it and I

286
00:10:37,870 –> 00:10:42,370
should make it somewhere that at least

287
00:10:40,390 –> 00:10:44,350
if you click on the link in my video

288
00:10:42,370 –> 00:10:45,940
descriptions like I’m not embarrassed

289
00:10:44,350 –> 00:10:48,520
that you went there which right now I

290
00:10:45,940 –> 00:10:51,460
would not send somebody to my blog for

291
00:10:48,520 –> 00:10:53,110
anything and the goal is to change that

292
00:10:51,460 –> 00:10:54,580
to make it somewhere that if somebody

293
00:10:53,110 –> 00:10:56,680
does go to see it like i said i’m at

294
00:10:54,580 –> 00:10:58,960
least not embarrassed by it so i just i

295
00:10:56,680 –> 00:11:01,870
put pretty much no effort into it i

296
00:10:58,960 –> 00:11:04,750
think if i put some the effort into it

297
00:11:01,870 –> 00:11:06,580
then it can only get better here’s my

298
00:11:04,750 –> 00:11:06,910
last goal it’s the only one I have that

299
00:11:06,580 –> 00:11:08,320
is

300
00:11:06,910 –> 00:11:11,350
really something that I’m going to be

301
00:11:08,320 –> 00:11:13,420
able to objectively say yes or no I

302
00:11:11,350 –> 00:11:15,400
accomplished this on a week-to-week

303
00:11:13,420 –> 00:11:17,620
arraya too weak to to week basis so that

304
00:11:15,400 –> 00:11:20,170
is going to be to watch and comment on

305
00:11:17,620 –> 00:11:22,870
20 amazon seller videos per week here at

306
00:11:20,170 –> 00:11:25,030
YouTube and the reason I want to focus

307
00:11:22,870 –> 00:11:26,800
on doing that is because I really want

308
00:11:25,030 –> 00:11:29,200
to be more involved in this community I

309
00:11:26,800 –> 00:11:31,180
feel like I get people coming over I

310
00:11:29,200 –> 00:11:32,860
tend the show up in a lot of suggested

311
00:11:31,180 –> 00:11:34,780
videos over on that side door and

312
00:11:32,860 –> 00:11:38,380
youtube and people find me that way and

313
00:11:34,780 –> 00:11:40,000
I just want to be more involved and when

314
00:11:38,380 –> 00:11:41,890
people see that but maybe you know

315
00:11:40,000 –> 00:11:44,890
they’re watching their current favorite

316
00:11:41,890 –> 00:11:46,540
YouTube seller video person and they

317
00:11:44,890 –> 00:11:47,890
recognize my name maybe from the

318
00:11:46,540 –> 00:11:49,240
comments and things like that and I just

319
00:11:47,890 –> 00:11:52,720
I want to get to know the other people

320
00:11:49,240 –> 00:11:54,580
that are creating YouTube videos about

321
00:11:52,720 –> 00:11:57,130
selling on Amazon because it’s not a

322
00:11:54,580 –> 00:11:59,740
very big community of people that do it

323
00:11:57,130 –> 00:12:01,450
and I you know there’s no reason that I

324
00:11:59,740 –> 00:12:03,130
shouldn’t get to know those people that

325
00:12:01,450 –> 00:12:05,260
are working on that stuff so does my

326
00:12:03,130 –> 00:12:07,000
thought process there and you know I’ll

327
00:12:05,260 –> 00:12:08,620
probably learn some pretty cool stuff in

328
00:12:07,000 –> 00:12:10,510
the process too so that’s not sure the

329
00:12:08,620 –> 00:12:12,460
goals I have for the second quarter

330
00:12:10,510 –> 00:12:15,010
there’s less goals this year but they’re

331
00:12:12,460 –> 00:12:16,750
bigger projects I guess you could say

332
00:12:15,010 –> 00:12:18,340
and you know q1 it was really about

333
00:12:16,750 –> 00:12:20,530
laying a foundation and building some

334
00:12:18,340 –> 00:12:22,060
awareness for me that’s why I was

335
00:12:20,530 –> 00:12:23,980
focused on things like numbers of videos

336
00:12:22,060 –> 00:12:25,510
numbers of tweets numbers of appearances

337
00:12:23,980 –> 00:12:27,640
numbers of you to subscribers and

338
00:12:25,510 –> 00:12:29,200
Twitter followers and this time this

339
00:12:27,640 –> 00:12:30,940
quarter rather I wanted to get away from

340
00:12:29,200 –> 00:12:32,470
those fan any metrics and do things that

341
00:12:30,940 –> 00:12:35,290
actually like build on that foundation

342
00:12:32,470 –> 00:12:36,670
of awareness that I have built so here’s

343
00:12:35,290 –> 00:12:40,030
what that is going to look like on

344
00:12:36,670 –> 00:12:42,280
Mondays i’m going to do product work so

345
00:12:40,030 –> 00:12:44,500
that means yeah i’m going to be spending

346
00:12:42,280 –> 00:12:46,510
time on amazon and jungle scout and

347
00:12:44,500 –> 00:12:47,920
looking for products to private label it

348
00:12:46,510 –> 00:12:51,370
also means i’m going to be looking at

349
00:12:47,920 –> 00:12:53,320
ways to work on my current product you

350
00:12:51,370 –> 00:12:55,540
know talking with suppliers figuring out

351
00:12:53,320 –> 00:12:59,830
the issues that I have with my first

352
00:12:55,540 –> 00:13:02,200
product or a subsequent product or doing

353
00:12:59,830 –> 00:13:05,530
things like that I just want to focus on

354
00:13:02,200 –> 00:13:07,150
for one product one and then you know

355
00:13:05,530 –> 00:13:10,000
subsequent products down the road that i

356
00:13:07,150 –> 00:13:12,820
have on Wednesdays i am going to focus

357
00:13:10,000 –> 00:13:14,170
on youtube so wednesdays learn to shoot

358
00:13:12,820 –> 00:13:14,830
it’s what i’m going to edit it’s when

359
00:13:14,170 –> 00:13:16,960
i’m going to school

360
00:13:14,830 –> 00:13:19,600
reps is when i’m going to set up on my

361
00:13:16,960 –> 00:13:22,540
tweets all that stuff Wednesday’s aren’t

362
00:13:19,600 –> 00:13:25,000
going to be my youtube days on Thursdays

363
00:13:22,540 –> 00:13:26,380
is going to be focused on the bootstrap

364
00:13:25,000 –> 00:13:28,810
boutique so that’s what I’m going to

365
00:13:26,380 –> 00:13:30,700
work on my website it’s when i’m going

366
00:13:28,810 –> 00:13:32,170
to hopefully try and like schedule

367
00:13:30,700 –> 00:13:34,150
interviews that i’m doing if i continue

368
00:13:32,170 –> 00:13:36,670
to do those that have the opportunity to

369
00:13:34,150 –> 00:13:39,130
do this it’s when i’m going to write

370
00:13:36,670 –> 00:13:41,110
emails to my email list it is when i’m

371
00:13:39,130 –> 00:13:43,840
going to focus on things that build up

372
00:13:41,110 –> 00:13:47,320
the brand of the bootstrap boutique and

373
00:13:43,840 –> 00:13:49,420
then finally on friday is plan do review

374
00:13:47,320 –> 00:13:52,240
if you guys have ever had like sales

375
00:13:49,420 –> 00:13:54,130
training for a job the plan do review

376
00:13:52,240 –> 00:13:55,750
cycle is something you learn about

377
00:13:54,130 –> 00:13:57,280
pretty early on it’s something that I’ve

378
00:13:55,750 –> 00:14:00,850
always covered in my sales training when

379
00:13:57,280 –> 00:14:02,860
I’ve had to do it and I don’t really

380
00:14:00,850 –> 00:14:04,930
like it when I’m in a job that relies on

381
00:14:02,860 –> 00:14:06,340
making sales because it’s like um

382
00:14:04,930 –> 00:14:08,950
yourself or do you want me to talk about

383
00:14:06,340 –> 00:14:10,900
it but in this case I think it’s going

384
00:14:08,950 –> 00:14:13,030
to be really helpful I want it’s really

385
00:14:10,900 –> 00:14:14,830
going to be more as a plan in the review

386
00:14:13,030 –> 00:14:17,470
because they do is going to be monday

387
00:14:14,830 –> 00:14:19,600
through thursday but it’s when i’m going

388
00:14:17,470 –> 00:14:21,490
to think about what i did well over the

389
00:14:19,600 –> 00:14:23,380
week what i need to do for the next week

390
00:14:21,490 –> 00:14:24,820
when and plan that out and also probably

391
00:14:23,380 –> 00:14:27,520
will use it to catch up on things i

392
00:14:24,820 –> 00:14:29,260
didn’t finish during the week so there

393
00:14:27,520 –> 00:14:30,820
may be one or two other things another

394
00:14:29,260 –> 00:14:34,000
thing i would like to do with Friday’s

395
00:14:30,820 –> 00:14:35,710
when i have time because usually I work

396
00:14:34,000 –> 00:14:37,150
on this stuff at night a lot in friday

397
00:14:35,710 –> 00:14:38,320
night’s you know sometimes you just want

398
00:14:37,150 –> 00:14:42,670
to like drink a beer and sit on your

399
00:14:38,320 –> 00:14:46,810
patio so no promises but i’d also like

400
00:14:42,670 –> 00:14:48,520
to use the time to do learning and you

401
00:14:46,810 –> 00:14:49,900
know catch us on trainings and stuff

402
00:14:48,520 –> 00:14:51,370
because a lot of times i signed up for

403
00:14:49,900 –> 00:14:52,780
these webinars and i’m going to do them

404
00:14:51,370 –> 00:14:54,250
on my lunch break and then I get dizzy

405
00:14:52,780 –> 00:14:55,750
with my day job stuff and I don’t get a

406
00:14:54,250 –> 00:14:57,190
chance to watch the webinar so maybe I

407
00:14:55,750 –> 00:15:00,280
feel like go back and watch them on

408
00:14:57,190 –> 00:15:03,190
Fridays at lunch or after my kid goes to

409
00:15:00,280 –> 00:15:05,980
bed or whatever that’s the plan okay

410
00:15:03,190 –> 00:15:07,930
enough about me what I would love to

411
00:15:05,980 –> 00:15:10,150
know is what are you going to accomplish

412
00:15:07,930 –> 00:15:12,370
between now and June 30 is because if q1

413
00:15:10,150 –> 00:15:14,530
taught me anything is that this next

414
00:15:12,370 –> 00:15:16,270
three months is going to fly by if we

415
00:15:14,530 –> 00:15:18,520
don’t lay out a plan what we’re going to

416
00:15:16,270 –> 00:15:21,730
do probably not going to get a lot done

417
00:15:18,520 –> 00:15:24,250
so tell me in the comments what is your

418
00:15:21,730 –> 00:15:26,510
goal or what are your goals if you have

419
00:15:24,250 –> 00:15:27,860
more than one for the second quarter I

420
00:15:26,510 –> 00:15:30,110
no so we could all hold each other

421
00:15:27,860 –> 00:15:32,810
accountable and I will talk to you next

422
00:15:30,110 –> 00:15:37,160
time guys take care my mom is calling

423
00:15:32,810 –> 00:15:38,690
she always calls in the morning I had

424
00:15:37,160 –> 00:15:41,720
better not decline the call I’m just

425
00:15:38,690 –> 00:15:43,990
going to let it ring I will be in

426
00:15:41,720 –> 00:15:43,990
trouble

Should I Stick With My Product?

In today’s video, I’m laying out all my numbers.  This is a breakdown of the cost of selling on Amazon on a per unit basis for my first order.  There are a couple of places where I can save money, so I also outline my estimated costs for a subsequent order.  Watch the video and let me know (via the poll in the video) what you think I should do!

Transcript:

1
00:00:00,000 –> 00:00:07,950
hey everybody welcome to the bootstrap

2
00:00:06,750 –> 00:00:13,139
boutique where beginners build

3
00:00:07,950 –> 00:00:14,940
businesses and stuff so I was supposed

4
00:00:13,139 –> 00:00:17,279
to talk about some other stuff today in

5
00:00:14,940 –> 00:00:19,560
today’s video and probably was going to

6
00:00:17,279 –> 00:00:22,830
be a lot more happy and upbeat but I’m

7
00:00:19,560 –> 00:00:25,800
just really struggling right now on this

8
00:00:22,830 –> 00:00:28,949
product that i’m selling amazon and do I

9
00:00:25,800 –> 00:00:32,820
reorder and sell more and push through

10
00:00:28,949 –> 00:00:35,579
or do I just drop it and go to another

11
00:00:32,820 –> 00:00:37,110
product which I do have picked out and

12
00:00:35,579 –> 00:00:38,790
it’s just sitting on the sidelines right

13
00:00:37,110 –> 00:00:40,829
now and I really I don’t want to get

14
00:00:38,790 –> 00:00:43,320
distracted by like what’s the new shiny

15
00:00:40,829 –> 00:00:45,000
thing right I don’t want that to be

16
00:00:43,320 –> 00:00:46,680
what’s driving my decision making so I’m

17
00:00:45,000 –> 00:00:50,550
really trying to put that out of my head

18
00:00:46,680 –> 00:00:53,010
and just focus on is this product worth

19
00:00:50,550 –> 00:00:55,170
moving forward with or not and what I

20
00:00:53,010 –> 00:00:56,789
thought I’d do is just film a video kind

21
00:00:55,170 –> 00:00:59,250
of talking it out talking about my

22
00:00:56,789 –> 00:01:01,079
thoughts with it and I’d love your

23
00:00:59,250 –> 00:01:02,699
feedback I’m gonna give you all my

24
00:01:01,079 –> 00:01:04,500
numbers I’m going to tell you what I

25
00:01:02,699 –> 00:01:07,680
think I’m going to talk about the sales

26
00:01:04,500 –> 00:01:11,070
that I have had lately and let’s see

27
00:01:07,680 –> 00:01:15,450
what we can figure out so here’s where I

28
00:01:11,070 –> 00:01:19,380
am right now i have i ordered 250 units

29
00:01:15,450 –> 00:01:23,610
of this product and i have sold more in

30
00:01:19,380 –> 00:01:25,350
the 80s so I’ve got still 150 + left to

31
00:01:23,610 –> 00:01:27,180
sell so I don’t have to if I’m going to

32
00:01:25,350 –> 00:01:29,579
reorder in order to not go out of stock

33
00:01:27,180 –> 00:01:32,460
I don’t have to do it like right now

34
00:01:29,579 –> 00:01:34,170
it’s not immediate but I need to be

35
00:01:32,460 –> 00:01:36,270
getting ready and getting the money

36
00:01:34,170 –> 00:01:38,850
ready and all that good stuff and really

37
00:01:36,270 –> 00:01:41,040
you know tightening down a time line

38
00:01:38,850 –> 00:01:44,490
with my supplier figuring it all out so

39
00:01:41,040 –> 00:01:45,990
we are not there yet I don’t have to

40
00:01:44,490 –> 00:01:48,810
make a decision today but it’s getting

41
00:01:45,990 –> 00:01:51,840
close the alternative is of course that

42
00:01:48,810 –> 00:01:55,380
I just go out of stock and don’t sell

43
00:01:51,840 –> 00:01:57,149
anything for a while and that can happen

44
00:01:55,380 –> 00:01:58,979
that won’t be the worst thing in the

45
00:01:57,149 –> 00:02:00,509
world but like I said I’m just trying to

46
00:01:58,979 –> 00:02:02,909
figure it out and I was hoping you guys

47
00:02:00,509 –> 00:02:05,670
would go along on the journey with me so

48
00:02:02,909 –> 00:02:07,500
let’s go through my numbers here’s my

49
00:02:05,670 –> 00:02:10,739
current pricing structure on amazon

50
00:02:07,500 –> 00:02:12,340
right now my cost of goods for six

51
00:02:10,739 –> 00:02:15,550
dollars a unit

52
00:02:12,340 –> 00:02:18,040
shipping cost me six dollars and ninety

53
00:02:15,550 –> 00:02:20,530
two sent a unit I know and that again is

54
00:02:18,040 –> 00:02:22,390
fedex Air Express so that’s like the

55
00:02:20,530 –> 00:02:24,550
fastest method it’s coming by air it is

56
00:02:22,390 –> 00:02:27,129
very expensive to ship that way but so

57
00:02:24,550 –> 00:02:29,349
the total price of that six dollars and

58
00:02:27,129 –> 00:02:31,750
ninety two cent was seventeen hundred

59
00:02:29,349 –> 00:02:34,690
thirty dollars was my entire what I paid

60
00:02:31,750 –> 00:02:37,690
for shipping on that first order i also

61
00:02:34,690 –> 00:02:39,610
am paying i’m averaging about 85 sent a

62
00:02:37,690 –> 00:02:41,379
unit to ship those products into the

63
00:02:39,610 –> 00:02:43,269
Amazon warehouse so as you know they

64
00:02:41,379 –> 00:02:45,849
were delivered to my house and i’m

65
00:02:43,269 –> 00:02:48,010
shipping about 50 at a time to amazon

66
00:02:45,849 –> 00:02:49,780
just to keep a minimal amount stock so

67
00:02:48,010 –> 00:02:51,280
if they didn’t sell i didn’t have to pay

68
00:02:49,780 –> 00:02:53,769
a long term storage fee or something

69
00:02:51,280 –> 00:02:56,530
like that but it’s cost me on average

70
00:02:53,769 –> 00:02:58,840
about 85 sent a unit and then also i’m

71
00:02:56,530 –> 00:03:01,239
paying 20 sent a unit to have my f in

72
00:02:58,840 –> 00:03:04,599
sku which is amazon’s identifier applied

73
00:03:01,239 –> 00:03:07,810
to the package so my cost landed to

74
00:03:04,599 –> 00:03:10,599
Amazon is thirteen dollars in 97 sent

75
00:03:07,810 –> 00:03:11,950
amazon has a lot of fees that they

76
00:03:10,599 –> 00:03:13,780
charge you to sell on that platform

77
00:03:11,950 –> 00:03:16,630
there’s a pick and pack or referral

78
00:03:13,780 –> 00:03:19,870
there’s others on shore but those feeds

79
00:03:16,630 –> 00:03:22,690
are nine dollars and seven cents so my

80
00:03:19,870 –> 00:03:24,880
cost just to sell this product every

81
00:03:22,690 –> 00:03:28,030
time I sell this prodigy amazon it cost

82
00:03:24,880 –> 00:03:32,019
me twenty three dollars and four cent

83
00:03:28,030 –> 00:03:36,849
i’m selling this product for twenty-four

84
00:03:32,019 –> 00:03:39,220
dollars and ninety-nine cent so my

85
00:03:36,849 –> 00:03:41,799
profit if nothing goes wrong is one

86
00:03:39,220 –> 00:03:45,010
dollar ninety two cent which is bad it’s

87
00:03:41,799 –> 00:03:46,239
really bad oh this is not what i thought

88
00:03:45,010 –> 00:03:48,310
was going to happen with my first

89
00:03:46,239 –> 00:03:49,989
product I really thought that I was

90
00:03:48,310 –> 00:03:53,290
going to be one of those success stories

91
00:03:49,989 –> 00:03:54,910
and I’m just not so here’s a couple of

92
00:03:53,290 –> 00:03:56,650
issues with that one of my shipping is

93
00:03:54,910 –> 00:03:59,200
super high but that was ship via air

94
00:03:56,650 –> 00:04:01,419
express and that’s the most expensive

95
00:03:59,200 –> 00:04:02,950
way to ship it literally so I knew I

96
00:04:01,419 –> 00:04:05,620
could get that to come down so I wasn’t

97
00:04:02,950 –> 00:04:08,260
really worried i just wanted to launch a

98
00:04:05,620 –> 00:04:11,079
product that units on my costs six

99
00:04:08,260 –> 00:04:14,650
dollars a unit so i ordered 3,000 pieces

100
00:04:11,079 –> 00:04:17,560
i sell a 12 pack of this product and so

101
00:04:14,650 –> 00:04:20,950
it’s 50 cent apiece so three thousand

102
00:04:17,560 –> 00:04:23,360
times or 3,000 you know whatever its 250

103
00:04:20,950 –> 00:04:25,580
units total

104
00:04:23,360 –> 00:04:27,439
I talked to my supplier and I ordered

105
00:04:25,580 –> 00:04:29,300
3,000 pieces and they said they can’t

106
00:04:27,439 –> 00:04:32,360
give me a price break until i order

107
00:04:29,300 –> 00:04:34,550
10,000 pieces which is over 800 units

108
00:04:32,360 –> 00:04:38,389
and then it was only going to be seven

109
00:04:34,550 –> 00:04:39,710
sent a piece not a lot of money saved

110
00:04:38,389 –> 00:04:42,259
there and I don’t have the capital

111
00:04:39,710 –> 00:04:44,689
anyway or not really willing to put up

112
00:04:42,259 –> 00:04:46,520
the capital to order 10,000 pieces at

113
00:04:44,689 –> 00:04:48,560
this point because if I was if I was

114
00:04:46,520 –> 00:04:50,270
like already sold out and I thought well

115
00:04:48,560 –> 00:04:51,650
I can probably make it up on volumes and

116
00:04:50,270 –> 00:04:52,789
yeah I might be willing to invest the

117
00:04:51,650 –> 00:04:57,050
money but that’s not what’s happening

118
00:04:52,789 –> 00:05:01,250
here so that’s not what I want to do the

119
00:04:57,050 –> 00:05:03,020
Amazon cost it went up a dollar so if

120
00:05:01,250 –> 00:05:04,460
you’re not selling on Amazon currently

121
00:05:03,020 –> 00:05:06,229
you may not know but in the end of

122
00:05:04,460 –> 00:05:08,750
februari they’ve raised all their prices

123
00:05:06,229 –> 00:05:11,449
for FBA so the cost of everything

124
00:05:08,750 –> 00:05:14,389
associated with FBA went up and my cost

125
00:05:11,449 –> 00:05:16,550
went up about a dollar and so and

126
00:05:14,389 –> 00:05:18,860
another thing I talked about in another

127
00:05:16,550 –> 00:05:21,110
video I thought I was ordering 500 units

128
00:05:18,860 –> 00:05:23,090
of my product and I thought my product

129
00:05:21,110 –> 00:05:25,370
cost was going to be three dollars a

130
00:05:23,090 –> 00:05:27,680
unit and when I went back and I did the

131
00:05:25,370 –> 00:05:29,029
math because I the sub boxes all came

132
00:05:27,680 –> 00:05:32,330
into my house and I living room and I

133
00:05:29,029 –> 00:05:34,940
was counting I was like 25 boxes that

134
00:05:32,330 –> 00:05:37,520
doesn’t sound right i should have 50 if

135
00:05:34,940 –> 00:05:40,009
there’s ten a box went back and looked

136
00:05:37,520 –> 00:05:43,039
at my purchase order and no i ordered

137
00:05:40,009 –> 00:05:47,569
250 years I’m just bad at math sometimes

138
00:05:43,039 –> 00:05:49,819
all the time um anyway so I thought that

139
00:05:47,569 –> 00:05:52,129
I was selling three dollars and it was

140
00:05:49,819 –> 00:05:54,020
six I thought that you know I should the

141
00:05:52,129 –> 00:05:56,870
most expensive way possible right so I

142
00:05:54,020 –> 00:05:59,629
was thinking okay well I have a lot of

143
00:05:56,870 –> 00:06:01,520
ways that I can save some costs on this

144
00:05:59,629 –> 00:06:05,150
product and here’s what I am projecting

145
00:06:01,520 –> 00:06:06,770
my next order to cost me so it’s still

146
00:06:05,150 –> 00:06:08,930
going to be six dollars a unit because

147
00:06:06,770 –> 00:06:11,930
I’m not ordering 10,000 pieces so my

148
00:06:08,930 –> 00:06:15,740
product cost is not going to change I

149
00:06:11,930 –> 00:06:17,479
got a quote from guided imports to do my

150
00:06:15,740 –> 00:06:19,490
freight forwarding for me and it would

151
00:06:17,479 –> 00:06:21,710
be four dollars and seventy two sent a

152
00:06:19,490 –> 00:06:24,080
unit so we’re going to save two dollars

153
00:06:21,710 –> 00:06:26,599
and fifty Cent two dollars and twenty

154
00:06:24,080 –> 00:06:30,529
cent to 20 told you those bad at math

155
00:06:26,599 –> 00:06:32,149
220 a unit on shipping this would be

156
00:06:30,529 –> 00:06:34,430
shipping straight to the Amazon

157
00:06:32,149 –> 00:06:36,470
warehouse not to my house so I would

158
00:06:34,430 –> 00:06:38,630
save that 85 sent a unit

159
00:06:36,470 –> 00:06:40,700
Bridge I would also get my designer to

160
00:06:38,630 –> 00:06:43,160
fix my product to have the FN sku

161
00:06:40,700 –> 00:06:44,600
actually on the label so Amazon’s not

162
00:06:43,160 –> 00:06:48,320
adding it separately so I would save

163
00:06:44,600 –> 00:06:51,320
that 20 sending unit so that would have

164
00:06:48,320 –> 00:06:53,600
me at a amazon landed cost of ten

165
00:06:51,320 –> 00:06:55,970
dollars and seventy two cents a unit

166
00:06:53,600 –> 00:06:59,090
which is already saving me you know

167
00:06:55,970 –> 00:07:01,460
three dollars or so three dollars

168
00:06:59,090 –> 00:07:04,460
20-cent assuming the Amazon call stays

169
00:07:01,460 –> 00:07:06,890
the same at 907 I would be landed are

170
00:07:04,460 –> 00:07:09,740
all in Kosta amazon nineteen dollars and

171
00:07:06,890 –> 00:07:12,620
seventy nine cent if I still sold at

172
00:07:09,740 –> 00:07:14,780
2499 that I would have five dollars and

173
00:07:12,620 –> 00:07:18,230
twenty cent profit again assuming

174
00:07:14,780 –> 00:07:20,090
nothing goes wrong prior to PPC all that

175
00:07:18,230 –> 00:07:25,970
fun stuff here’s what I’m trying to

176
00:07:20,090 –> 00:07:28,730
figure out is it worth it that’s still

177
00:07:25,970 –> 00:07:31,280
not a lot of money to be made off of

178
00:07:28,730 –> 00:07:33,110
these products five dot twenty cent is

179
00:07:31,280 –> 00:07:35,210
you know if you go by the Scott Volcker

180
00:07:33,110 –> 00:07:37,910
Rule and you don’t have to but if you do

181
00:07:35,210 –> 00:07:41,450
five dollars and twenty cent falls well

182
00:07:37,910 –> 00:07:43,940
short of the 10 x 10 x one rule sticking

183
00:07:41,450 –> 00:07:45,590
with the Scott Volk ler Tim buys him by

184
00:07:43,940 –> 00:07:47,480
one rule which list maybe I should just

185
00:07:45,590 –> 00:07:49,880
recap that that means you’re selling one

186
00:07:47,480 –> 00:07:54,080
product 10 cells a day an average of ten

187
00:07:49,880 –> 00:07:57,979
dollars profit so if that’s what I was

188
00:07:54,080 –> 00:08:00,919
selling and we’re following those rules

189
00:07:57,979 –> 00:08:04,280
and them were just not there right the

190
00:08:00,919 –> 00:08:08,540
flip side of that is that the sales are

191
00:08:04,280 –> 00:08:11,330
not supporting even these teeny tiny

192
00:08:08,540 –> 00:08:14,000
little profits I don’t know what’s going

193
00:08:11,330 –> 00:08:17,210
on my pay per click but I do know that

194
00:08:14,000 –> 00:08:19,280
when I look at the ad spend every few

195
00:08:17,210 –> 00:08:23,030
days like nothing is changing and I

196
00:08:19,280 –> 00:08:25,910
don’t have a lot of impressions I was on

197
00:08:23,030 –> 00:08:29,540
a PPC training that Scott Vogler and

198
00:08:25,910 –> 00:08:31,280
Chris Shaffer and Dom sugar dead and I

199
00:08:29,540 –> 00:08:32,930
got to ask a question which was cool and

200
00:08:31,280 –> 00:08:34,669
I said you know look guys I watched a

201
00:08:32,930 –> 00:08:37,070
products five weeks ago I’ve gotten

202
00:08:34,669 –> 00:08:40,250
about 32,000 impression since then that

203
00:08:37,070 –> 00:08:42,710
seems low and they agree with me they

204
00:08:40,250 –> 00:08:44,240
said yeah that seems kind of low you

205
00:08:42,710 –> 00:08:46,209
know we want to see about a thousand a

206
00:08:44,240 –> 00:08:48,610
day so I’m well below that

207
00:08:46,209 –> 00:08:51,009
and I don’t I just don’t understand

208
00:08:48,610 –> 00:08:53,139
what’s what’s going on with that so I’ve

209
00:08:51,009 –> 00:08:56,139
got some ideas of ways that I can do

210
00:08:53,139 –> 00:08:57,550
work to mark it off of amazon I think

211
00:08:56,139 –> 00:08:59,800
can drive some traffic there if that I

212
00:08:57,550 –> 00:09:01,899
know I need to implement its just when

213
00:08:59,800 –> 00:09:03,639
do you feel try to find the time to do

214
00:09:01,899 –> 00:09:06,699
that it’s something I can’t do myself I

215
00:09:03,639 –> 00:09:09,699
need a second set of hands and that’s

216
00:09:06,699 –> 00:09:11,800
complicating issues but enough with the

217
00:09:09,699 –> 00:09:12,999
excuses Megan this is this is really

218
00:09:11,800 –> 00:09:15,100
what’s going on though this is how I

219
00:09:12,999 –> 00:09:17,050
just talk through the things I’m

220
00:09:15,100 –> 00:09:20,199
thinking about so I just wanted to do it

221
00:09:17,050 –> 00:09:22,119
kind of live with you guys and and get

222
00:09:20,199 –> 00:09:25,029
your thoughts on so as of this recording

223
00:09:22,119 –> 00:09:27,490
i have sold 86 units and like I said

224
00:09:25,029 –> 00:09:29,980
about five weeks and I just it’s just

225
00:09:27,490 –> 00:09:32,050
not enough you know I mean I have when I

226
00:09:29,980 –> 00:09:35,259
first launched my product i was selling

227
00:09:32,050 –> 00:09:37,449
like five six a day one day so 11 and I

228
00:09:35,259 –> 00:09:40,540
was like oh my gosh this is awesome but

229
00:09:37,449 –> 00:09:43,990
since then it just has not been that

230
00:09:40,540 –> 00:09:45,550
great and and so I don’t know what to do

231
00:09:43,990 –> 00:09:47,259
I don’t know did I Drive do I drive

232
00:09:45,550 –> 00:09:50,499
traffic from somewhere else do I just

233
00:09:47,259 –> 00:09:52,449
focus on PVC and throw my ad spend up to

234
00:09:50,499 –> 00:09:54,429
like five dollars click just try and get

235
00:09:52,449 –> 00:09:56,860
some stuff coming through do I just let

236
00:09:54,429 –> 00:10:00,490
it sell out at three units a day or two

237
00:09:56,860 –> 00:10:04,329
units a day until it’s on I don’t know

238
00:10:00,490 –> 00:10:06,040
guys so hey here’s just the insight into

239
00:10:04,329 –> 00:10:08,350
a mind if somebody’s that’s selling on

240
00:10:06,040 –> 00:10:10,600
Amazon what I am encouraged by is that I

241
00:10:08,350 –> 00:10:12,309
know I did a lot of things wrong this

242
00:10:10,600 –> 00:10:15,399
time that I won’t do next time like for

243
00:10:12,309 –> 00:10:18,759
instance I went into a category that was

244
00:10:15,399 –> 00:10:24,009
I believe too competitive now um I don’t

245
00:10:18,759 –> 00:10:25,480
know I don’t know why I did that don’t

246
00:10:24,009 –> 00:10:27,610
really remember back into

247
00:10:25,480 –> 00:10:29,379
september-october when I was sourcing

248
00:10:27,610 –> 00:10:30,639
this product why I was like yeah this is

249
00:10:29,379 –> 00:10:32,799
the one let’s see what i mean i love it

250
00:10:30,639 –> 00:10:34,540
i think it’s great i’ve had awesome

251
00:10:32,799 –> 00:10:36,220
feedback all my reviews have been five

252
00:10:34,540 –> 00:10:40,119
stars which knock on wood hope that

253
00:10:36,220 –> 00:10:41,889
continues but i do think it was probably

254
00:10:40,119 –> 00:10:44,799
too competitive it’s probably not

255
00:10:41,889 –> 00:10:47,110
differentiated enough so there’s just

256
00:10:44,799 –> 00:10:49,540
some stuff that I can do better that I

257
00:10:47,110 –> 00:10:52,269
need to do better and I’m excited on

258
00:10:49,540 –> 00:10:54,970
working on doing better the next time

259
00:10:52,269 –> 00:10:56,709
but if I can salvage this product if I

260
00:10:54,970 –> 00:11:00,080
can fix it I also think that would be

261
00:10:56,709 –> 00:11:03,020
pretty cool so we’ll see well

262
00:11:00,080 –> 00:11:04,790
what happens I am probably i’m going to

263
00:11:03,020 –> 00:11:07,040
try and throw up a little poll up here

264
00:11:04,790 –> 00:11:09,890
on the corner it might be over here i’m

265
00:11:07,040 –> 00:11:12,410
always bad at which way the cards come

266
00:11:09,890 –> 00:11:14,540
up but I can do pole so tell me do you

267
00:11:12,410 –> 00:11:17,840
think I continue with this product or

268
00:11:14,540 –> 00:11:20,000
should I move on this is not a democracy

269
00:11:17,840 –> 00:11:21,620
I’m still couldn’t make the decision on

270
00:11:20,000 –> 00:11:23,750
my own but i’m really curious with you

271
00:11:21,620 –> 00:11:25,340
guys having the numbers what you think I

272
00:11:23,750 –> 00:11:27,590
should do so I will look forward to your

273
00:11:25,340 –> 00:11:29,900
responses and I will talk to you next

274
00:11:27,590 –> 00:11:31,820
week take care what i thought was going

275
00:11:29,900 –> 00:11:33,890
to happen with my first product I really

276
00:11:31,820 –> 00:11:35,600
thought that I was going to be one of

277
00:11:33,890 –> 00:11:40,030
those success stories and I’m just not

278
00:11:35,600 –> 00:11:40,030
so here’s a couple of issue

Running and Amazon FBA business, or any kind of business for that matter, takes a ton of time, so here’s how to make sure you have enough of it. Hey everybody welcome back to another episode of The Bootstrap Boutique where beginners build businesses, I am so glad you’re here because today we’re going to talk about how to schedule your success.

Running A Business

So like I already said, running a business of any kind takes so much time. So much more time than you think its going to take, am I right? And it is really easy to get bogged down in those details.

But what I have found is that if you want to be successful in running a business, you’ve got to schedule it.

You’ve got to make time for it.

Here’s how we’re going to do that.

Schedule Your Success

I want you to make a list of your priorities for the year. Once you’ve got that, get out your calendar. You’re going to have to make some notes.

So what do you want to accomplish this year, because if you don’t plan for it, it’s not going to happen.

When in this year are you going to launch your next product? Go ahead and think about that launch date, get out your calendar and write it down, because that’s going to allow you to work backwards, to reverse engineer, when you need to be working on those certain tasks to get to that launch date on time.

If you’re going to launch a new product this year, you already know what steps you have to do. You have to research your market, find a supplier, get samples, customize & order, make your final order, get product photos taken, get it listed and launch it.

There’s eight steps.

So if you’re going to launch at the end of the year, you can go ahead now and say I’ve got to have market research done by X date, I’ve got to have these samples in my house by X date, I’ve got to product photos done by this date. And that way you can make sure that by the time you hit December you are ready to go with that new product.

You can fit all that other life stuff in around that but make sure if launching a product is your priority (and your priority can be whatever, this is just an example), that you have time to do the things that you need to do to make that priority happen.

Calendar White Space

So here’s my other suggestion for that, you should leave lots of white space in your calendar.

Sometimes that freaks people out, they’ve got to have every minute scheduled.

But no, not you.

You’re going to be smarter than that this year.

White space on your calendar allows life to happen. Some things are going to take more time than you think, sometimes life is going to happen and you’re going to have to do something you were not expecting to do.

Give yourself space to be flexible, give yourself room to respond to opportunities that come your way and you will still be able to do all the stuff you want to do , and hit that number one priority, whatever it is, in your time frame.

Easy enough, right? But the devil is in the details you still have got to get to work.

I live by my calendar, I say my calendar is my boss, because it keeps me on track and it keeps me moving forward and that’s what I want for you this year.

Wrap Up

Leave me a comment down below and let me know what is your number one priority this year? What is it you’re going to achieve and have you blocked off the time  to make sure that you can actually do the work to make it happen. I look forward to reading your responses and I will talk to you next time. Take care!

Goal Update – March 24, 2017 (Amazon FBA, Twitter, YouTube, Podcasts)

Transcript:

1
00:00:00,000 –> 00:00:03,330
it’s already friday again I don’t even

2
00:00:01,860 –> 00:00:07,049
know how these weeks go by so fast

3
00:00:03,330 –> 00:00:09,030
converting everybody welcome back to

4
00:00:07,049 –> 00:00:12,660
another episode of the bootstrap

5
00:00:09,030 –> 00:00:15,210
boutique goal check in addition and this

6
00:00:12,660 –> 00:00:16,529
is the last regularly scheduled gold

7
00:00:15,210 –> 00:00:18,449
check in for this quarter which is

8
00:00:16,529 –> 00:00:20,250
really hard to believe I will do another

9
00:00:18,449 –> 00:00:21,990
one on the last day of the month to 31st

10
00:00:20,250 –> 00:00:25,560
of March just a week and see how far

11
00:00:21,990 –> 00:00:27,689
we’d actually come from January 12 March

12
00:00:25,560 –> 00:00:29,519
31 and then i’ll also be talking about

13
00:00:27,689 –> 00:00:32,460
the goals i’m setting for myself through

14
00:00:29,519 –> 00:00:34,079
the second quarter of 2017 so that will

15
00:00:32,460 –> 00:00:36,090
be i think next friday is the last day

16
00:00:34,079 –> 00:00:38,910
of the month so make sure you’re here

17
00:00:36,090 –> 00:00:41,070
next week but for now let’s go ahead and

18
00:00:38,910 –> 00:00:44,309
check in on how things are going with

19
00:00:41,070 –> 00:00:47,789
the goals that i had set for 21 my first

20
00:00:44,309 –> 00:00:49,890
goal was to sell out about 250 units of

21
00:00:47,789 –> 00:00:52,860
my product and that is the goal we are

22
00:00:49,890 –> 00:00:55,590
not going to hit this up this quarter so

23
00:00:52,860 –> 00:00:58,469
so far as of this morning I’ve sold 79

24
00:00:55,590 –> 00:01:00,960
units which is again it’s not amazing

25
00:00:58,469 –> 00:01:03,359
you know it’s in a slide for about five

26
00:01:00,960 –> 00:01:05,309
or six weeks now and I’ve just had some

27
00:01:03,359 –> 00:01:08,310
issues that I’ve run into one you know I

28
00:01:05,309 –> 00:01:10,500
ran out of stock at amazon even though i

29
00:01:08,310 –> 00:01:12,869
had units sitting in my house the other

30
00:01:10,500 –> 00:01:16,590
issue that i had was that there’s this

31
00:01:12,869 –> 00:01:18,000
new i guess it’s a hijacker thing that

32
00:01:16,590 –> 00:01:21,540
happens where people are listening

33
00:01:18,000 –> 00:01:24,330
products for half or less of your

34
00:01:21,540 –> 00:01:25,860
listing cost and what I understand is

35
00:01:24,330 –> 00:01:28,170
that they’re going in their listing and

36
00:01:25,860 –> 00:01:30,000
they’ve got it fulfilled by merchant and

37
00:01:28,170 –> 00:01:32,460
then they never actually ship products

38
00:01:30,000 –> 00:01:35,310
from people by so I’ve had two different

39
00:01:32,460 –> 00:01:37,320
people get on my listing with that one

40
00:01:35,310 –> 00:01:38,850
layer listing with my product for six

41
00:01:37,320 –> 00:01:42,689
dollars and other they’re listening it

42
00:01:38,850 –> 00:01:44,280
for 13 and you know if people weren’t

43
00:01:42,689 –> 00:01:45,899
really paying attention and then it’s

44
00:01:44,280 –> 00:01:48,630
pretty easy to go oh I’ll just buy

45
00:01:45,899 –> 00:01:50,729
someone with a lower price and so I can

46
00:01:48,630 –> 00:01:53,280
always tell when that happens because my

47
00:01:50,729 –> 00:01:54,990
scales just go to zero I mean I had

48
00:01:53,280 –> 00:01:56,909
somebody still my listening for two days

49
00:01:54,990 –> 00:01:59,729
I had no self and as soon as I was able

50
00:01:56,909 –> 00:02:01,829
to get them off my sales came right back

51
00:01:59,729 –> 00:02:05,670
and I had like five the next day so it’s

52
00:02:01,829 –> 00:02:09,209
so frustrating one that people do that

53
00:02:05,670 –> 00:02:11,670
because it’s just wrong he’s hung it’s

54
00:02:09,209 –> 00:02:13,860
terrible especially because you know as

55
00:02:11,670 –> 00:02:15,660
a customer you think you’re buying

56
00:02:13,860 –> 00:02:18,180
and then you never get it and that sucks

57
00:02:15,660 –> 00:02:19,980
but then also for me obviously it’s very

58
00:02:18,180 –> 00:02:22,320
frustrating and there’s not a lot that

59
00:02:19,980 –> 00:02:23,730
we can do besides send them a letter and

60
00:02:22,320 –> 00:02:26,610
say hey you don’t have permission to be

61
00:02:23,730 –> 00:02:28,620
on my thing I never sold to you I don’t

62
00:02:26,610 –> 00:02:29,940
do wholesale or resellers or anything

63
00:02:28,620 –> 00:02:31,770
like that so you need to stop and then

64
00:02:29,940 –> 00:02:33,960
report them to amazon but it takes a

65
00:02:31,770 –> 00:02:35,490
couple of days for them to get off so I

66
00:02:33,960 –> 00:02:37,200
because of that I’ve had essentially

67
00:02:35,490 –> 00:02:40,500
four or five days into two lost sales

68
00:02:37,200 –> 00:02:43,410
just nothing happening so frustrating

69
00:02:40,500 –> 00:02:47,910
the second goal that I have is to want a

70
00:02:43,410 –> 00:02:49,440
second product via Amazon and I said in

71
00:02:47,910 –> 00:02:51,120
my last check-in video that’s not going

72
00:02:49,440 –> 00:02:53,010
to happen this time as you know what I

73
00:02:51,120 –> 00:02:54,780
want my second product to be but I’m

74
00:02:53,010 –> 00:02:57,090
still working through the decision

75
00:02:54,780 –> 00:02:58,560
process of am I going to reorder product

76
00:02:57,090 –> 00:03:00,660
one and go a little deeper with that

77
00:02:58,560 –> 00:03:02,280
give it a little more love or move on

78
00:03:00,660 –> 00:03:05,520
the product too I don’t have enough

79
00:03:02,280 –> 00:03:07,890
capital to do those which is a common

80
00:03:05,520 –> 00:03:09,959
right most of us you’re trying to do

81
00:03:07,890 –> 00:03:11,280
this you know invest a little bit of

82
00:03:09,959 –> 00:03:12,780
money and then grow up from there from

83
00:03:11,280 –> 00:03:15,810
your initial investment and not just

84
00:03:12,780 –> 00:03:17,550
throw cash throw cash throw cash so I’m

85
00:03:15,810 –> 00:03:19,980
still working through that I’ll talk a

86
00:03:17,550 –> 00:03:22,049
little bit later about something I did

87
00:03:19,980 –> 00:03:23,880
to help me with that decision process so

88
00:03:22,049 –> 00:03:26,160
we’ll get to that here in a minute the

89
00:03:23,880 –> 00:03:27,690
next goal that I have was for 200 use

90
00:03:26,160 –> 00:03:29,070
new subscribers which seems silly now

91
00:03:27,690 –> 00:03:31,260
because I’ve doubled that amount which

92
00:03:29,070 –> 00:03:33,299
is awesome and I am using the wrong

93
00:03:31,260 –> 00:03:35,400
pronouns I didn’t double it you guys did

94
00:03:33,299 –> 00:03:38,580
and I appreciate so much you guys being

95
00:03:35,400 –> 00:03:40,320
here and your support and I you know I

96
00:03:38,580 –> 00:03:41,760
always say it if you think means videos

97
00:03:40,320 –> 00:03:43,200
are worth watching hopefully you think

98
00:03:41,760 –> 00:03:44,400
they’re we’re sharing with other people

99
00:03:43,200 –> 00:03:47,250
that are interested in learning about

100
00:03:44,400 –> 00:03:48,959
amazon FBA or if you’re somebody or you

101
00:03:47,250 –> 00:03:51,090
know somebody that’s already doing it

102
00:03:48,959 –> 00:03:53,280
but you know you’re feeling discouraged

103
00:03:51,090 –> 00:03:55,650
you can watch my videos to learn about

104
00:03:53,280 –> 00:03:57,959
how much i have screwed stuff up and

105
00:03:55,650 –> 00:03:59,820
still managed to launch a product at

106
00:03:57,959 –> 00:04:01,709
amazon it can be done even if you make

107
00:03:59,820 –> 00:04:04,410
mistakes we do not have to be perfect at

108
00:04:01,709 –> 00:04:06,209
this to be able to succeed so that is my

109
00:04:04,410 –> 00:04:08,040
message that I hope everybody takes away

110
00:04:06,209 –> 00:04:09,480
from watching my videos another thing I

111
00:04:08,040 –> 00:04:11,670
wanted to get done this quarter was to

112
00:04:09,480 –> 00:04:13,860
post 20 new videos to the bootstrap

113
00:04:11,670 –> 00:04:16,919
boutique youtube channel and we have

114
00:04:13,860 –> 00:04:20,250
done that we’re currently at gosh i’ma

115
00:04:16,919 –> 00:04:23,250
have to do math here call it 27 or so

116
00:04:20,250 –> 00:04:25,169
new videos on the site so that’s pretty

117
00:04:23,250 –> 00:04:26,900
exciting I think that helped contribute

118
00:04:25,169 –> 00:04:29,060
a lot to my growth when you have more

119
00:04:26,900 –> 00:04:30,710
you out there just gives more out people

120
00:04:29,060 –> 00:04:33,110
more opportunities to find talk about

121
00:04:30,710 –> 00:04:35,180
that more on that March 31st video when

122
00:04:33,110 –> 00:04:37,910
I talk about my goal chirps you too but

123
00:04:35,180 –> 00:04:40,039
really want to focus on quality over

124
00:04:37,910 –> 00:04:42,199
quantity so that’s going to be a shift

125
00:04:40,039 –> 00:04:44,600
I’m making here at the channel starting

126
00:04:42,199 –> 00:04:47,539
in April the next goal i have set for

127
00:04:44,600 –> 00:04:49,699
myself was to have over 5,000 twitter

128
00:04:47,539 –> 00:04:52,699
followers at my appt meg Lofton handle

129
00:04:49,699 –> 00:04:55,880
currently it’s just under 50 500 5000

130
00:04:52,699 –> 00:04:57,710
497 so again just being at Twitter

131
00:04:55,880 –> 00:05:00,590
showing up interacting all that fun

132
00:04:57,710 –> 00:05:03,020
stuff has helped me to be successful at

133
00:05:00,590 –> 00:05:04,669
that goal so not much can say they’re

134
00:05:03,020 –> 00:05:06,350
slept where I really like hanging out on

135
00:05:04,669 –> 00:05:08,539
Twitter if you’re there make sure you

136
00:05:06,350 –> 00:05:10,280
tag me and say hi another goal that I

137
00:05:08,539 –> 00:05:12,500
had set for myself was to have over a

138
00:05:10,280 –> 00:05:14,090
thousand total tweets at that handle

139
00:05:12,500 –> 00:05:15,979
just to you know who myself accountable

140
00:05:14,090 –> 00:05:18,229
to go there every day in to share things

141
00:05:15,979 –> 00:05:21,740
so I have hit this goal i’m out

142
00:05:18,229 –> 00:05:23,330
currently 1407 so that’s fun it’s again

143
00:05:21,740 –> 00:05:25,880
it’s just I like being on Twitter I like

144
00:05:23,330 –> 00:05:27,979
sharing things i find i use it to share

145
00:05:25,880 –> 00:05:30,139
my videos and I just I just enjoyed the

146
00:05:27,979 –> 00:05:33,169
platform I had another goal to review

147
00:05:30,139 –> 00:05:34,880
three books on the YouTube channel and I

148
00:05:33,169 –> 00:05:37,520
have done that now so we started back in

149
00:05:34,880 –> 00:05:39,199
January let’s eat that frog then I did

150
00:05:37,520 –> 00:05:40,400
once in this book reviews which I

151
00:05:39,199 –> 00:05:41,690
thought was kind of fun I didn’t know

152
00:05:40,400 –> 00:05:43,250
what people would think about it but I

153
00:05:41,690 –> 00:05:44,960
got some good feedback so a lot of other

154
00:05:43,250 –> 00:05:46,460
people enjoyed that too but surely just

155
00:05:44,960 –> 00:05:48,530
taking these big books and kind of

156
00:05:46,460 –> 00:05:50,539
distilling them down to their essence

157
00:05:48,530 –> 00:05:53,030
which I enjoy doing and then finally

158
00:05:50,539 –> 00:05:55,070
i’ve reviewed blog like a boss by a nice

159
00:05:53,030 –> 00:05:56,659
mid tower and she’s somebody that I

160
00:05:55,070 –> 00:05:58,430
follow on YouTube to try to figure out

161
00:05:56,659 –> 00:06:00,530
how to do this whole build a YouTube

162
00:05:58,430 –> 00:06:02,240
channel thing and she’s taught me a lot

163
00:06:00,530 –> 00:06:04,610
and I really enjoyed her book and I

164
00:06:02,240 –> 00:06:06,229
enjoyed reviewing it for you guys and I

165
00:06:04,610 –> 00:06:09,409
hope you guys checked out that link and

166
00:06:06,229 –> 00:06:11,270
got a copy for yourself I might do more

167
00:06:09,409 –> 00:06:13,340
book reviews probably not so much on the

168
00:06:11,270 –> 00:06:14,780
channel maybe one or two more we’re on

169
00:06:13,340 –> 00:06:17,240
there’s a good opportunity that presents

170
00:06:14,780 –> 00:06:19,190
itself but probably on periscope I might

171
00:06:17,240 –> 00:06:21,500
just pick up books say hey guys here’s

172
00:06:19,190 –> 00:06:22,909
what I’m reading right now you know go

173
00:06:21,500 –> 00:06:25,280
check them out if you’re interested and

174
00:06:22,909 –> 00:06:27,020
if those are fun for you guys on

175
00:06:25,280 –> 00:06:28,490
periscope I’d be happy to upload them to

176
00:06:27,020 –> 00:06:30,349
the channel since I’ve already created

177
00:06:28,490 –> 00:06:32,040
the content just you know let me know

178
00:06:30,349 –> 00:06:33,540
give me some feedback in the comments

179
00:06:32,040 –> 00:06:36,900
let me know if that’s interesting for

180
00:06:33,540 –> 00:06:39,900
you or not Oh home and so I did not

181
00:06:36,900 –> 00:06:42,000
think I was going to meet this goal of

182
00:06:39,900 –> 00:06:44,430
having three appearances and Laura

183
00:06:42,000 –> 00:06:48,690
collaborations with other people but

184
00:06:44,430 –> 00:06:51,270
look at that I did and wow so we started

185
00:06:48,690 –> 00:06:53,610
off with the be moving forward tight ass

186
00:06:51,270 –> 00:06:55,590
was done limb that was so much fun to do

187
00:06:53,610 –> 00:06:57,240
that was the first interview that I had

188
00:06:55,590 –> 00:06:58,740
ever done as far as you know talking

189
00:06:57,240 –> 00:07:00,810
about Amazon and talking about the

190
00:06:58,740 –> 00:07:03,540
bootstrap boutique and really enjoy

191
00:07:00,810 –> 00:07:07,140
talking with John a couple weeks ago I

192
00:07:03,540 –> 00:07:09,420
went out and I did a skel V ALB listen

193
00:07:07,140 –> 00:07:12,570
to me I can’t even talk this was a cell

194
00:07:09,420 –> 00:07:14,520
z scanning video where I I took the

195
00:07:12,570 –> 00:07:15,930
selfie at which you guys saw me talk

196
00:07:14,520 –> 00:07:17,730
with Josh on the channel a couple of

197
00:07:15,930 –> 00:07:19,740
weeks ago about filthy and how he got

198
00:07:17,730 –> 00:07:22,110
started but I downloaded the app to the

199
00:07:19,740 –> 00:07:24,810
phone and I went out to a local thrift

200
00:07:22,110 –> 00:07:27,300
store and I did some scanning and found

201
00:07:24,810 –> 00:07:29,250
some money to be made here in our local

202
00:07:27,300 –> 00:07:32,970
thrift shop which were in a really small

203
00:07:29,250 –> 00:07:35,370
town and the selection was not great but

204
00:07:32,970 –> 00:07:36,540
I still managed to find profitable books

205
00:07:35,370 –> 00:07:38,280
to sell their so that was pretty

206
00:07:36,540 –> 00:07:40,050
exciting i also did some scanning around

207
00:07:38,280 –> 00:07:43,050
of books in my house just because i was

208
00:07:40,050 –> 00:07:45,060
curious and i wasn’t really planning on

209
00:07:43,050 –> 00:07:47,310
selling any of my books but then when I

210
00:07:45,060 –> 00:07:49,140
saw some of them and how much money I

211
00:07:47,310 –> 00:07:51,960
can make for from them I was like a

212
00:07:49,140 –> 00:07:53,160
maybe I do go to sell it and I keep

213
00:07:51,960 –> 00:07:55,350
looking over there if it sucks in my

214
00:07:53,160 –> 00:07:57,000
book cases is that’s where one of the

215
00:07:55,350 –> 00:07:58,980
books i have is about Machu Picchu

216
00:07:57,000 –> 00:08:01,530
hiking Machu Picchu I did that blouse in

217
00:07:58,980 –> 00:08:03,750
college the Inca Trail and it was like

218
00:08:01,530 –> 00:08:06,210
fifty dollars profit that I can make and

219
00:08:03,750 –> 00:08:08,580
I was just like oh maybe I could sell

220
00:08:06,210 –> 00:08:11,880
that book so I was thinking about i was

221
00:08:08,580 –> 00:08:15,030
very tempted the last circle this is

222
00:08:11,880 –> 00:08:17,010
amazing so I did an interview with Scott

223
00:08:15,030 –> 00:08:18,720
Vogler of the amazing seller podcast I

224
00:08:17,010 –> 00:08:21,120
did it yesterday and i was updating this

225
00:08:18,720 –> 00:08:23,280
slide and i would not update it until

226
00:08:21,120 –> 00:08:25,350
that interview was in the book because i

227
00:08:23,280 –> 00:08:26,820
was so nervous like although this is too

228
00:08:25,350 –> 00:08:28,560
cool of an opportunity something is

229
00:08:26,820 –> 00:08:29,880
going to happen and it’s not going to

230
00:08:28,560 –> 00:08:31,410
like take place right we’re going to

231
00:08:29,880 –> 00:08:33,990
cancel and reschedule it’s never going

232
00:08:31,410 –> 00:08:35,250
to happen but it did i spent probably 30

233
00:08:33,990 –> 00:08:37,830
or 40 minutes talking with Scott

234
00:08:35,250 –> 00:08:39,540
yesterday to be on his podcast and

235
00:08:37,830 –> 00:08:40,919
that’s going to air in early April so I

236
00:08:39,540 –> 00:08:44,370
will be sure to let you know when that’s

237
00:08:40,919 –> 00:08:45,880
coming he say he was amazing and what we

238
00:08:44,370 –> 00:08:48,100
did was we talked through my

239
00:08:45,880 –> 00:08:50,530
products because as you know I’ve had

240
00:08:48,100 –> 00:08:52,480
some issues with it my cost my land

241
00:08:50,530 –> 00:08:54,370
across the Amazon is way too high I

242
00:08:52,480 –> 00:08:55,930
don’t have an email list or any of that

243
00:08:54,370 –> 00:08:58,420
stuff and so we talked about some things

244
00:08:55,930 –> 00:09:01,360
I can do to give some more love to

245
00:08:58,420 –> 00:09:02,830
product one and make the cost lower so I

246
00:09:01,360 –> 00:09:04,930
can make more money on selling it so

247
00:09:02,830 –> 00:09:06,640
before that conversation I’ve kind of

248
00:09:04,930 –> 00:09:08,170
down on my products and I was like oh

249
00:09:06,640 –> 00:09:11,500
it’s too expensive to get it in the

250
00:09:08,170 –> 00:09:12,940
Amazon and maybe it’s not worth it

251
00:09:11,500 –> 00:09:15,190
because I’m not getting a lot of sales

252
00:09:12,940 –> 00:09:17,470
but you know diving into the numbers

253
00:09:15,190 –> 00:09:19,750
with him really helped me see some ways

254
00:09:17,470 –> 00:09:23,620
I can save money on one thing to get the

255
00:09:19,750 –> 00:09:25,120
cost down but then also to just do more

256
00:09:23,620 –> 00:09:28,690
marketing on the product I’ve really

257
00:09:25,120 –> 00:09:31,180
done almost none so doing some will

258
00:09:28,690 –> 00:09:33,040
probably help I’ve done sponsor ads and

259
00:09:31,180 –> 00:09:36,160
that’s really it as far as I go so I

260
00:09:33,040 –> 00:09:38,380
can’t wait for you guys to hear me on

261
00:09:36,160 –> 00:09:40,960
the amazing seller I know a lot of you

262
00:09:38,380 –> 00:09:43,720
guys listen to Scott you I tried really

263
00:09:40,960 –> 00:09:45,610
hard not to remind myself how many

264
00:09:43,720 –> 00:09:48,010
podcast downloads he gets an episode

265
00:09:45,610 –> 00:09:50,590
because it’s a lot and I was being very

266
00:09:48,010 –> 00:09:52,690
honest as I do here but to a much

267
00:09:50,590 –> 00:09:54,160
smaller audience but very honest about a

268
00:09:52,690 –> 00:09:57,010
lot of the mistakes I’ve made and it’s

269
00:09:54,160 –> 00:09:58,510
not easy to be vulnerable like that all

270
00:09:57,010 –> 00:10:00,910
the time and to put that kind of stuff

271
00:09:58,510 –> 00:10:02,920
out there but what I always hear from

272
00:10:00,910 –> 00:10:05,710
you guys is that it’s valuable to you

273
00:10:02,920 –> 00:10:07,450
and so I really tried not to sugarcoat

274
00:10:05,710 –> 00:10:09,520
everything and just be very open and

275
00:10:07,450 –> 00:10:12,250
honest and I hope that kind of syrup and

276
00:10:09,520 –> 00:10:14,830
but it was just an amazing experience it

277
00:10:12,250 –> 00:10:16,300
was so kind of generous if Scott to one

278
00:10:14,830 –> 00:10:18,130
having on the podcast and then to

279
00:10:16,300 –> 00:10:20,230
basically turn it into a free coaching

280
00:10:18,130 –> 00:10:23,020
session for me because this time is very

281
00:10:20,230 –> 00:10:25,060
valuable and it was just the coolest

282
00:10:23,020 –> 00:10:28,540
thing so we’re also talking about some

283
00:10:25,060 –> 00:10:30,610
other stuff Scott and I live and not

284
00:10:28,540 –> 00:10:32,650
closing on neighbors but you know was in

285
00:10:30,610 –> 00:10:34,630
driving distance of commuting gigas

286
00:10:32,650 –> 00:10:38,260
distance of each other so we’re talking

287
00:10:34,630 –> 00:10:40,720
about setting up a meet up for him for

288
00:10:38,260 –> 00:10:42,640
people to come and meet him in his local

289
00:10:40,720 –> 00:10:44,440
area and then also made me like some

290
00:10:42,640 –> 00:10:46,090
kind of workshop stuff so I you know

291
00:10:44,440 –> 00:10:47,740
just the opportunity to help out with

292
00:10:46,090 –> 00:10:49,750
that and getting to see how like the

293
00:10:47,740 –> 00:10:51,700
business side of other stuff works i’m

294
00:10:49,750 –> 00:10:54,700
really excited about I’m really excited

295
00:10:51,700 –> 00:10:56,230
about it so I hope to meet working hard

296
00:10:54,700 –> 00:10:58,240
on that stuff you’re coming up he just

297
00:10:56,230 –> 00:10:59,170
had to check dates I actually have to

298
00:10:58,240 –> 00:11:00,730
check from nate’s because

299
00:10:59,170 –> 00:11:03,970
want to travel coming up to my day job

300
00:11:00,730 –> 00:11:05,350
and we’ll see what happens but guys when

301
00:11:03,970 –> 00:11:07,810
you put stuff out there when you try

302
00:11:05,350 –> 00:11:09,700
stuff and you just make yourself out and

303
00:11:07,810 –> 00:11:12,339
available and get your any amount people

304
00:11:09,700 –> 00:11:14,680
know like opportunities like to come up

305
00:11:12,339 –> 00:11:16,930
I mean I’ve had things pop up in my

306
00:11:14,680 –> 00:11:19,420
inbox and I’m like what you want me to

307
00:11:16,930 –> 00:11:21,940
do what that’s amazing and it’s just

308
00:11:19,420 –> 00:11:24,550
it’s just putting yourself out there

309
00:11:21,940 –> 00:11:28,000
being a real person on the internet and

310
00:11:24,550 –> 00:11:29,560
being willing to help and I don’t even

311
00:11:28,000 –> 00:11:32,019
know what else I don’t feel like I

312
00:11:29,560 –> 00:11:33,459
deserve any of this stuff but it’s been

313
00:11:32,019 –> 00:11:35,470
really fun and I’m excited to see where

314
00:11:33,459 –> 00:11:37,540
it goes and where it takes me so that’s

315
00:11:35,470 –> 00:11:39,820
all I got for today sorry for the

316
00:11:37,540 –> 00:11:41,199
rambles there at the end but I hope you

317
00:11:39,820 –> 00:11:43,300
guys are doing awesome I hope you’re

318
00:11:41,199 –> 00:11:45,010
hitting all your goals we need a comment

2
00:00:05,490 –> 00:00:09,150
welcome to another episode of the

3
00:00:07,259 –> 00:00:11,010
bootstrap boutique where beginners built

4
00:00:09,150 –> 00:00:12,509
businesses I allows you’re here today

5
00:00:11,010 –> 00:00:14,580
because we’re just going to do an update

6
00:00:12,509 –> 00:00:16,500
video there’s a lot of things that I

7
00:00:14,580 –> 00:00:18,900
wanted to talk about that don’t really

8
00:00:16,500 –> 00:00:20,670
ruin their own video but because I’m

9
00:00:18,900 –> 00:00:22,260
like all about full disclosure and once

10
00:00:20,670 –> 00:00:24,750
you guys to know what’s going on and

11
00:00:22,260 –> 00:00:27,180
where I am so it can help you know what

12
00:00:24,750 –> 00:00:28,380
to do to take your next step I just

13
00:00:27,180 –> 00:00:30,720
thought let’s just put it all together

14
00:00:28,380 –> 00:00:32,340
in one will call this our March update

15
00:00:30,720 –> 00:00:34,050
haven’t done a video like this since

16
00:00:32,340 –> 00:00:36,480
back in January and at that time I

17
00:00:34,050 –> 00:00:38,760
wasn’t even selling products on Amazon

18
00:00:36,480 –> 00:00:41,790
my product had not even shipped to the

19
00:00:38,760 –> 00:00:43,920
states yet and it’s quite different now

20
00:00:41,790 –> 00:00:45,989
I have a product selling on Amazon it’s

21
00:00:43,920 –> 00:00:47,579
pretty exciting stuff and that’s one

22
00:00:45,989 –> 00:00:50,010
thing I wanted to talk about our sales

23
00:00:47,579 –> 00:00:51,570
I’m happy that pretty much every day I’m

24
00:00:50,010 –> 00:00:53,820
able to what I call get on the board

25
00:00:51,570 –> 00:00:55,680
make a cell or two but I’m finding that

26
00:00:53,820 –> 00:00:58,920
that’s kind of worm leveling off them

27
00:00:55,680 –> 00:01:00,570
not sure why so I when I first started

28
00:00:58,920 –> 00:01:02,699
when this product for his lunch i was

29
00:01:00,570 –> 00:01:05,129
having days with a lot more sales

30
00:01:02,699 –> 00:01:07,890
activity happening i would had a couple

31
00:01:05,129 –> 00:01:10,080
of days six sales i have one of 11 four

32
00:01:07,890 –> 00:01:13,080
or five was pretty much where I was and

33
00:01:10,080 –> 00:01:14,400
I just haven’t hit that again since i

34
00:01:13,080 –> 00:01:15,720
went out of stock that time and i

35
00:01:14,400 –> 00:01:17,490
traveled out of state while i was gone

36
00:01:15,720 –> 00:01:19,140
my products sold out and all that stuff

37
00:01:17,490 –> 00:01:20,970
so i just had not be able to get back to

38
00:01:19,140 –> 00:01:23,189
that level even though i now have

39
00:01:20,970 –> 00:01:24,840
reviews on my powers I have five star

40
00:01:23,189 –> 00:01:26,520
reviews so my customers have been very

41
00:01:24,840 –> 00:01:29,280
happy with what I’m selling which makes

42
00:01:26,520 –> 00:01:31,439
me very happy but I’m still kind of

43
00:01:29,280 –> 00:01:34,079
stuck at that two to three sales a day

44
00:01:31,439 –> 00:01:36,150
range now I have been lucky in my

45
00:01:34,079 –> 00:01:38,130
reviews my customers have told me what

46
00:01:36,150 –> 00:01:39,720
they’re using this product for because

47
00:01:38,130 –> 00:01:41,220
there’s a couple of different things

48
00:01:39,720 –> 00:01:42,780
that you could actually just call it for

49
00:01:41,220 –> 00:01:44,340
and the customers and their reviews are

50
00:01:42,780 –> 00:01:48,630
saying that I’m using it for this and I

51
00:01:44,340 –> 00:01:50,280
love it it’s so perfect whatever so I’m

52
00:01:48,630 –> 00:01:52,560
going to go back and do some work on my

53
00:01:50,280 –> 00:01:54,540
listing to kind of optimized around that

54
00:01:52,560 –> 00:01:56,670
area because I want to be able to pick

55
00:01:54,540 –> 00:01:58,740
up people that are doing that also make

56
00:01:56,670 –> 00:02:00,570
something yet this is the product i need

57
00:01:58,740 –> 00:02:02,430
if this is what i want to do another

58
00:02:00,570 –> 00:02:04,770
reason why sales have been lower is

59
00:02:02,430 –> 00:02:06,180
because i had my first hijacker yay now

60
00:02:04,770 –> 00:02:07,680
I talked about this a little bit of a

61
00:02:06,180 –> 00:02:09,119
periscope video and if you’re not

62
00:02:07,680 –> 00:02:10,140
following me on Twitter make sure you

63
00:02:09,119 –> 00:02:11,610
are because

64
00:02:10,140 –> 00:02:13,770
this is an ID I got from my buddy

65
00:02:11,610 –> 00:02:15,150
Stephen over at full-time FDA was to

66
00:02:13,770 –> 00:02:17,760
just go on periscope and be a little

67
00:02:15,150 –> 00:02:19,440
more visible there and I share some

68
00:02:17,760 –> 00:02:21,630
content and some information there i’m

69
00:02:19,440 –> 00:02:23,010
kind of using it almost like this you

70
00:02:21,630 –> 00:02:25,319
know if things don’t want an entire

71
00:02:23,010 –> 00:02:27,030
video by their updates that I want to

72
00:02:25,319 –> 00:02:28,800
share I’ve just been kind of uploaded in

73
00:02:27,030 –> 00:02:32,580
the periscope getting on doing a very

74
00:02:28,800 –> 00:02:34,410
raw unedited live cat but I don’t

75
00:02:32,580 –> 00:02:36,630
interrogate los lunas like guys I had my

76
00:02:34,410 –> 00:02:38,220
first hacker I can’t even believe this I

77
00:02:36,630 –> 00:02:40,319
didn’t know that I was sawing enough to

78
00:02:38,220 –> 00:02:43,110
warrant a hacker however here’s what was

79
00:02:40,319 –> 00:02:45,360
weird about this hijacker not hacker

80
00:02:43,110 –> 00:02:48,000
here’s what was weird about that though

81
00:02:45,360 –> 00:02:50,580
usually hijackers are selling your

82
00:02:48,000 –> 00:02:52,890
product for a higher cost because that’s

83
00:02:50,580 –> 00:02:56,130
where they’re making money however this

84
00:02:52,890 –> 00:02:59,400
hijacker was had my product listed for

85
00:02:56,130 –> 00:03:01,110
six dollars which is like a seventy-five

86
00:02:59,400 –> 00:03:02,880
percent discount offer what I’m selling

87
00:03:01,110 –> 00:03:05,040
and I was on periscope saying I don’t

88
00:03:02,880 –> 00:03:07,470
understand that how does anybody expect

89
00:03:05,040 –> 00:03:09,239
to ever make money off of it and what

90
00:03:07,470 –> 00:03:11,220
someone commented in the periscope feed

91
00:03:09,239 –> 00:03:13,320
was that this person probably has no

92
00:03:11,220 –> 00:03:14,579
intention of actually selling the

93
00:03:13,320 –> 00:03:15,959
product they’re just going to go out and

94
00:03:14,579 –> 00:03:17,670
get as many sales as they can before

95
00:03:15,959 –> 00:03:19,799
amazon shuts and downs now that’s

96
00:03:17,670 –> 00:03:21,959
pitiful that is pitiful that people do

97
00:03:19,799 –> 00:03:24,000
that but I guess we shouldn’t be so

98
00:03:21,959 –> 00:03:25,980
surprised without it unfortunately

99
00:03:24,000 –> 00:03:27,660
there’s another guy actually the

100
00:03:25,980 –> 00:03:29,190
contacting you via Twitter he’s like is

101
00:03:27,660 –> 00:03:33,000
this person your hijacker and I was like

102
00:03:29,190 –> 00:03:34,500
oh my gosh yes it is and I had sent them

103
00:03:33,000 –> 00:03:35,549
and not a seasoned justice whatever

104
00:03:34,500 –> 00:03:37,110
better like I hey you don’t have

105
00:03:35,549 –> 00:03:38,820
permission to resell this and i haven’t

106
00:03:37,110 –> 00:03:40,980
sold it to you so you need to take your

107
00:03:38,820 –> 00:03:42,750
listing down and the southern person

108
00:03:40,980 –> 00:03:44,700
actually contacted amazon and when i was

109
00:03:42,750 –> 00:03:47,430
telling my husband about the hijacker

110
00:03:44,700 –> 00:03:49,079
that night while you’re laying in bed I

111
00:03:47,430 –> 00:03:50,459
pulled it off the plate I’ll just show

112
00:03:49,079 –> 00:03:52,110
you what I’m talking about confuse like

113
00:03:50,459 –> 00:03:54,180
Heidecker what the heck are you talking

114
00:03:52,110 –> 00:03:56,640
about I’ll just show you so I pull up my

115
00:03:54,180 –> 00:03:58,829
phone they’re gone so I was very happy

116
00:03:56,640 –> 00:04:02,519
and the next day myself came back now

117
00:03:58,829 –> 00:04:03,780
what I don’t know is how many people got

118
00:04:02,519 –> 00:04:05,310
dudes in the thinking they could get

119
00:04:03,780 –> 00:04:07,859
this product for six dollars and they’re

120
00:04:05,310 –> 00:04:10,560
never going to actually get that product

121
00:04:07,859 –> 00:04:12,359
and what that’s going to mean for my

122
00:04:10,560 –> 00:04:15,090
listing for my I mean I didn’t sell it

123
00:04:12,359 –> 00:04:17,459
so hopefully it doesn’t affect me or my

124
00:04:15,090 –> 00:04:18,660
account but I just don’t know so if you

125
00:04:17,459 –> 00:04:20,630
know please leave it down in the

126
00:04:18,660 –> 00:04:22,430
comments and tell me another kind of

127
00:04:20,630 –> 00:04:27,860
anything that i noticed i was looking at

128
00:04:22,430 –> 00:04:29,780
my pay per click and they may i spent on

129
00:04:27,860 –> 00:04:32,870
paper quite over the past week has not

130
00:04:29,780 –> 00:04:35,030
changed which seems unusual seems weird

131
00:04:32,870 –> 00:04:36,710
and i take and both of my campaigns that

132
00:04:35,030 –> 00:04:38,390
have an automatic in the manual they’re

133
00:04:36,710 –> 00:04:40,490
both running so I’ve got to spend some

134
00:04:38,390 –> 00:04:42,200
time digging into that on pay per click

135
00:04:40,490 –> 00:04:44,300
and trying to figure out why my ads I

136
00:04:42,200 –> 00:04:46,580
mean show more click on more and

137
00:04:44,300 –> 00:04:48,380
converting into more sales so last thing

138
00:04:46,580 –> 00:04:49,850
I wanted to talk about and again this is

139
00:04:48,380 –> 00:04:51,500
something that I think it’s important to

140
00:04:49,850 –> 00:04:53,450
talk about to share with you but it

141
00:04:51,500 –> 00:04:56,270
doesn’t mean it some video is the

142
00:04:53,450 –> 00:04:58,130
importance of getting a correct value on

143
00:04:56,270 –> 00:05:00,380
your commercial invoice when your

144
00:04:58,130 –> 00:05:03,230
manufacture chips the product to you

145
00:05:00,380 –> 00:05:05,270
when my manufacture night were talking

146
00:05:03,230 –> 00:05:06,650
about prices we agreed that the cost of

147
00:05:05,270 –> 00:05:08,330
goods was going to be fifteen hundred

148
00:05:06,650 –> 00:05:10,070
dollars shipping was going to be

149
00:05:08,330 –> 00:05:12,680
seventeen hundred dollars and that’s off

150
00:05:10,070 –> 00:05:14,060
fedex express shipping via air and so

151
00:05:12,680 –> 00:05:16,070
we’re looking at a total of thirty two

152
00:05:14,060 –> 00:05:18,770
hundred dollars so the value of goods on

153
00:05:16,070 –> 00:05:20,420
that is only fifteen hundred dollars so

154
00:05:18,770 –> 00:05:22,130
as the gym that was being cleared

155
00:05:20,420 –> 00:05:25,400
through customs i got these phone calls

156
00:05:22,130 –> 00:05:26,960
from the fedex people that do the

157
00:05:25,400 –> 00:05:28,760
clearance for you and they’re saying due

158
00:05:26,960 –> 00:05:30,440
to the high cost that good we need some

159
00:05:28,760 –> 00:05:32,360
additional documentation and as what we

160
00:05:30,440 –> 00:05:34,940
need high cost of goods what’s up with

161
00:05:32,360 –> 00:05:36,320
some threshold for that they said well

162
00:05:34,940 –> 00:05:37,820
three thousand dollars and several

163
00:05:36,320 –> 00:05:39,260
perfect i’m at fifteen hundred dollars

164
00:05:37,820 –> 00:05:41,300
you don’t need all that information for

165
00:05:39,260 –> 00:05:43,400
me and usually no no we do because your

166
00:05:41,300 –> 00:05:45,080
commercial invoice says that the cost of

167
00:05:43,400 –> 00:05:47,630
your or the value of your goods rather

168
00:05:45,080 –> 00:05:50,180
is thirty two hundred dollars and I was

169
00:05:47,630 –> 00:05:52,400
like that’s not right I said in my first

170
00:05:50,180 –> 00:05:54,320
disorder sin of all the documentation I

171
00:05:52,400 –> 00:05:57,830
had and because what was on the

172
00:05:54,320 –> 00:05:59,600
commercial invoice was not correct and

173
00:05:57,830 –> 00:06:01,610
they didn’t really care about my first

174
00:05:59,600 –> 00:06:03,770
disorder or any of that stuff and so I

175
00:06:01,610 –> 00:06:06,440
was not actively fill out all the

176
00:06:03,770 –> 00:06:08,390
section for documentation so now at the

177
00:06:06,440 –> 00:06:11,810
end of the world that you do pay taxes

178
00:06:08,390 –> 00:06:13,580
on the value of your good so i ended up

179
00:06:11,810 –> 00:06:16,370
paying two hundred and twelve dollars

180
00:06:13,580 –> 00:06:17,780
somewhere in that Paul bark and I assay

181
00:06:16,370 –> 00:06:20,480
what I really should have paid was maybe

182
00:06:17,780 –> 00:06:22,850
half it up so if we say okay a hundred

183
00:06:20,480 –> 00:06:25,340
and six dollars is what I overpaid right

184
00:06:22,850 –> 00:06:27,320
so I email my supplier and I asked for a

185
00:06:25,340 –> 00:06:28,940
revised and updated commercial invoice

186
00:06:27,320 –> 00:06:31,610
and they sent it in the next day like I

187
00:06:28,940 –> 00:06:33,150
don’t think they care what they put on

188
00:06:31,610 –> 00:06:34,860
it which is wise

189
00:06:33,150 –> 00:06:36,570
the important for you to make sure that

190
00:06:34,860 –> 00:06:38,520
you’re getting the right value put on

191
00:06:36,570 –> 00:06:39,600
your commercial invoice because they

192
00:06:38,520 –> 00:06:42,060
were like oh yeah here you go whatever

193
00:06:39,600 –> 00:06:44,430
so I opened a claim with fedex and I so

194
00:06:42,060 –> 00:06:46,050
here’s an updated invoice it was not

195
00:06:44,430 –> 00:06:47,940
correct before it here’s the purchase

196
00:06:46,050 –> 00:06:50,070
order showing that this was the value of

197
00:06:47,940 –> 00:06:51,720
goods that we agreed on and fedex drove

198
00:06:50,070 –> 00:06:53,910
back in there like yeah but the original

199
00:06:51,720 –> 00:06:56,880
invoice says this if you want us to file

200
00:06:53,910 –> 00:07:01,290
a claim for you we can do it for $75 and

201
00:06:56,880 –> 00:07:02,880
done another though that sounds like no

202
00:07:01,290 –> 00:07:05,100
because think about it you’re going to

203
00:07:02,880 –> 00:07:07,050
spend 75 dollars for them to start that

204
00:07:05,100 –> 00:07:09,660
claim I don’t want to get to it on some

205
00:07:07,050 –> 00:07:11,070
kind of list with customs patrol I don’t

00:07:09,660 –> 00:07:13,020
know how I happen or not that I want to

207
00:07:11,070 –> 00:07:15,150
risk it I will just pay the stupid tax

208
00:07:13,020 –> 00:07:18,420
the frustration tax of one hundred and

209
00:07:15,150 –> 00:07:21,120
six dollars and move on but had I gotten

210
00:07:18,420 –> 00:07:22,890
that right amount on the initial invoice

211
00:07:21,120 –> 00:07:24,840
this would have been a discussion

212
00:07:22,890 –> 00:07:26,430
nothing in the world does something to

213
00:07:24,840 –> 00:07:28,380
be aware of make sure on that commercial

214
00:07:26,430 –> 00:07:30,120
in which you have your right dollar

215
00:07:28,380 –> 00:07:32,250
amount otherwise you’re going to be

216
00:07:30,120 –> 00:07:33,870
paying too much in taxes you’re going to

217
00:07:32,250 –> 00:07:35,670
not be able to get it corrected

218
00:07:33,870 –> 00:07:37,380
apparently and it’s just going to be

219
00:07:35,670 –> 00:07:40,110
adding so make sure it’s right the first

220
00:07:37,380 –> 00:07:41,730
time that’s my tip of the day alright

221
00:07:40,110 –> 00:07:43,530

222

How To Prioritize With A Time Management Matrix

Transcription:

I know we’ve talked about to do lists before, but this is not a to do list. It’s a matrix, totally different! Hey welcome back to another episode of The Bootstrap Boutique where beginners build businesses. I’m glad you’re here because today I’m going to share another really fun productivity tool with you guys.

And unlike the 3×5 method which is something I invented just for myself, this is an actual real thing that real people in real businesses do, so hopefully its something that will resonate with you.

Time Management Matrix

And what I’m talking about is Stephen Covey’s time management matrix. So if you’ve ever read the book the 7 habits of highly effective people, and I’ve got my one sentence book review linked down below, then this will be familiar to you. But don’t skip ahead, because its always good to have a refresher.

What is the Time Management Matrix?

The time management matrix is the way to prioritize your tasks because you’re going to have your to do list and you’re going to have items that are screaming at you to get done but they don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Then you’re going to have the really big important things that you need to get done the things that are going to advance your career, build your business but because they’re not screaming at you, you just tend to put them off to the next day.

Time Management Matrix for The Bootstrap Boutique

So let’s go through what a time management matrix could look like for me running The Bootstrap Boutique.

Here’s our matrix, its just 2 boxes by 2 boxes and on the side we’re going to label box 1 important and 2 not important, 3 urgent and 4 not urgent. And you’re going to take your to do list and you’re going to decide: what is important and urgent, important and not urgent, not important but urgent and not important and not urgent.

So a to do list for The Bootstrap Boutique may look something like this: reply to comments, shoot video, transcribe video, post to blog, research videos, do out reach, do social sharing and do branding.

So lets go through the exercise and put things in the boxes so we can determine what I should be focusing on during the day and what I probably shouldn’t.

Reply To Comments

Ok, reply to comments. Now responding to comments is one of my favorite things I do because I love to interact with this community but at the end of the day, how much does it really build the business? That was not meant to be a misleading comment. I actually that responding to comments and emails and talking with you guys is one of the most important things I can do as the head bootstrapper of The Bootstrap Boutique because its how you build a community. So for me replying to comments is both important and urgent because your expectation when you comment on my video is not that 3 weeks later I’ll respond to you, it’s probably within a day, maybe 2 if its the weekend, but usually it’s within a day for sure.

Shoot Videos

Ok number 2. Shoot Video. That also, I believe, falls into the important and urgent category. Because if I don’t have videos, I don’t have a Bootstrap Boutique. There’s nothing else here. There’s not really a blog to speak of, or any other medium where I share information with you guys. This is it, so these videos have got to get done, so they also go in that first quadrant of important and urgent.

Write Transcripts

What about my number 3 item though? Write Transcripts. Did you guys know that I personally transcribe every single video that I post? There’s a couple of reasons why I do that, 1 because if someone needs closed captioning I want them to have it, 2 because Google can’t really hear what is said in videos so if you add the text of what is spoken, Google can read that and they can understand what they need to be ranking these videos for. Also, I use the transcript instead of a blog post so if you go over to https://www.thebootstrapboutique.com you’ll see that every video has a transcript underneath it so I just use it double. But it takes a lot of time to transcribe these videos. Is it something that is absolutely vital to the success of The Bootstrap Boutique? No. It’s not. For that reason it falls in not important and not urgent and it is almost always the last thing I do before a video gets put to bed.

Research Videos

The fourth item on this to do list would be to research videos which is an important task because I need to know what kind of topics people in my audience are looking for so I can create videos that are going to best help them. However, that is not something that ever feels urgent to me mainly because I have so many things I want to talk about that I already know are going to resonate with this audience, that going out and spending time just researching more ideas doesn’t feel like something I need to do right now because I have pages full of ideas already.

Influencer Outreach

Number six is doing outreach to influencers in this space and I do believe that is important for the long term growth and success of The Bootstrap Boutique, but is it urgent? Is that something I feel like “uh, I got to do that right now” no. Maybe it should be, but I’m just doing this off how I feel.

Social Sharing

Number 7 is social sharing. Say that five times fast. But I, so for me that means posting to this on Twitter or on other social places where I hang out and that is something that is really falling in that urgent category because I want it to happen as soon as I post videos to start getting it out there and spreading the message but is it really important, do those tweets drive a lot of views to these videos? They don’t. No, not at all. So it’s not important and if it’s not happening day one I have to become more Ok with that because there’s other more important things I need to be doing.

Update Blog

The fourth item on this to do list would be to update my blog. Now I do think thats an important thing to do because something could happen and  YouTube could go away and I still want to have a place where all this content and information can live. But my blog is really right now just a holding spot for those videos, its not something I drive traffic to, its not something I’m really particularly proud of at the moment, so I feel like its not as urgent. Now should I go out and really work on updating my blog then that will become more important to make it timely but right now I just don’t feel like its there so I’m more comfortable putting it in the not urgent category.

Branding

Number 8, working on my branding. I’m not an artist, I’m not a graphic designer, but I think we both know The Bootstrap Boutique branding could be spiffed up a little bit. But again, I don’t think you’re here or your not here because of my logo, I think you’re interested in building businesses, physical product businesses with Amazon most likely, so that’s just not been a focus of mine. I see people with branding that looks like it came from 2005 and they are doing just fine on the Internet. So its, it needs some attention, but again, not urgent for me. Not urgent at all.

Wrap Up

I hope you’ve enjoyed this overview of Stephen Covey’s time management matrix, if you didn’t get the graphics of what I was showing on screen, you can download a copy, I’ve got a link below in the description so go ahead and grab that and I will talk to you next time. Take care!

Vlog Like A Boss – Book Review

Transcript

Have you ever held someone’s dream in your hand? Hey welcome back for another episode of The Bootstrap Boutique where beginners build businesses. I’m glad you’re here because today I want to talk about something a little meta, which is making these videos for you every week.

The Vlog Boss

And to do that I have to tell you about one of my YouTube mentors, Amy Schmittauer. That’s her right there. I found Amy and her YouTube channel SavvySexySocial back when I was looking for how to schedule a post to YouTube, or how to schedule a video to YouTube. Because I was that green and I was that new and I didn’t know how to do it.

See back in the early days of The Bootstrap Boutique I used to shoot a video, kind of edit it, and immediately upload it and I knew that if I was going to keep doing this week after week then I was going to have to find a better way.

So I go to YouTube and I search “how to schedule a video to post on Youtube” and Amy was there with a tutorial. I went and looked up how to do something else and Amy was there with a tutorial. Every question it felt like that I had about how to do something on YouTube, Amy had a tutorial.

She was out there providing value and showing her expertise in a way that was truly helpful for what I needed so I became a fan immediately. Her videos were not only informative, they were also entertaining and that led to me binge watching them. She’s got 700 and some, I haven’t seen them all I’m sure, but I’ve watched a lot of them because I was learning something with each new video.

How To Vlog Like A Boss

One thing that I really picked up on, and I didn’t know it was a “thing” was the way she structured her videos.  Her short intro, immediately giving you all the information you need, a call to action and end it. So there’s not all this extra fluff in her videos.

Oh, and look, there it is right there on page 87, it’s Amy’s Authority Video Formula all about how to do a YouTube video. And I have borrowed from it. Heavily.

It’s why you’ll notice now in my videos I try to really just jump into the content, cut to the chase and not give a whole bunch of fluff and talk about whatever I was talking about in those early videos that probably had nothing to do with Amazon or selling on Amazon.

It’s also why I end with a much more clear call to action. Do you remember when I used to spell our my Twitter handle at the end, who’s got time for that? Nobody. But if I say “hey, leave me a comment” you can do that. That’s one thing.

It’s not, “leave me a comment, like this video, check out the checklist, here’s my twitter handle, let me spell my email address for you” I don’t know what I was thinking. So thank you Amy, because I needed that.

Amy’s videos are all about giving value and that is absolutely something that I try to emulate in my videos for you guys. So hey, here’s my crystal clear call to action. I have a link to Amy’s book in the description below. Go click that link and buy her book.

Because I’ll tell you, I actually am a member of Amy’s book squad and I got an advanced digital copy to read for a review, and I loved the book so much and I got so much out of it that I went and I bought this book myself even though I already have it in pdf. One, I like paper, but also I wanted to support Amy because she’s given me so much through her channel and it’s an awesome resource.

It’s something that is going to be dog-eared, underlined, and sticky noted all over. So here’s that call to action again. Check the link below, buy the book. You won’t regret it. And I will talk to you next time. Take care.
